Any thoughts? Is it dated? I've only ever met one and she's in her late 20s...

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Mrsknackered · 26/10/2017 22:20

I think it's a bit dated. My ex's mum always called me Lauren, and when I'd correct her she'd say 'I'm sorry you just look like such a Lauren'
It's put me off for life.
I like Laurel, if that's any help!
P.s my name is nothing like Lauren, except it ending in an 'n'

DramaAlpaca · 26/10/2017 22:20

The Laurens I know were all born in the 80s & 90s. It's a nice name, but it is probably a bit dated.

feelslikearockandahardplace · 26/10/2017 22:23

I know a few in their 20s and 30s and one who's 6. I like it.

MadisonAvenue · 26/10/2017 22:24

I know three Laurens, all mid-teens. It does seem a bit dated now.

Hellywelly10 · 26/10/2017 22:25

Love it. Dont know any Laurens.

NannyR · 26/10/2017 22:26

It is a bit dated but that's not necessarily a bad thing. It's a nice name, would suit a child and an adult and its not that common, so she won't be known as Lauren A at school. I actually quite like it.

ElmerFudge · 26/10/2017 22:32

I think of the TOWIE Laurens. It's in the realm of Chloe / Megan, for me.

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 26/10/2017 22:35

I know a fabulous Lauren who is 6. I quite like it but I love Laurel.

stopbeingadramallama · 26/10/2017 22:37

I’m a Lauren,go for it haha!

Morgan · 26/10/2017 22:39

My Lauren is 11 - only one other in her school .

Smoliver · 26/10/2017 22:40

I love Lauren. We already have a Lauren in our family otherwise I would've considered adding it to my shortlist. Then again, as I learnt from a separate thread, it appears I like "dull & dated names" Grin

Also, please don't go with Laurel (Laurel & Hardy!)

Viviennemary · 26/10/2017 22:40

It's a 1980's name. It's OK but yes it's dated and a bit boring.

headintheproverbial · 26/10/2017 22:44

I've always liked it and thought it was a pretty name. I know two, both in their late 30s.

Brokenbiscuit · 26/10/2017 22:46

My dd is 12. She knows at least four other Laurens, all within a couple of years of her age, so no, I don't think it's particularly dated.

PinkHeart5914 · 26/10/2017 22:46

Its a nice name and not one I hear often. I’ve never met a horrible Lauren. It’s not dated!

What about Laura, Laurel?

QuantamBaby · 26/10/2017 22:50

I like it, it doesn’t sound dated to me.. Smile

Migraleve · 26/10/2017 22:53

Lauren is one of those names which i don't think seems dated at all. I know of Lauren's in all age brackets, the youngest being 4.

Just don't use the sickly nickname 'lolly'

MollyHuaCha · 26/10/2017 22:53

I like it.

putdownyourphone · 26/10/2017 22:54

I love it. It is dated in that it was probably most popular in the 80s, but I think it's quite classic and unique.

SuperBeagle · 26/10/2017 23:03

Outdated.

I know a million Laurens my age/slightly older/slightly younger. It was obscenely popular in the 1980s and 1990s.

mondler · 26/10/2017 23:08

Thanks guys, really helpful to hear your thoughts. For some reason I dislike Laura, Lolly and Laurel...but love Lauren Confused At the moment I like Lauren Willow.

I love Loren Smile

Liadain · 27/10/2017 00:13

I teach primary, we have a good few Laurens. I don't love it tbh, it always seems a bit bland - but definitely not unknown among that age group!

Liadain · 27/10/2017 00:14

Do you like Lorinne, Op?

Topseyt · 27/10/2017 02:20

I like Lauren.

I wouldn't use Laurel. It would make me think of Laurel and Hardy (showing my age there).
