Thoughts? Also would you be inclined to shorten it as i don't really like Anna as a nickname?

I'm an Annaliese. Its never shortened... I love it! When little I never heard of others but now its nice to occasionally come across another one.

MrsMotherHen · 15/10/2017 15:03

Am an Annalise too. I have never shortened mine ever its a great name Smile

forestred · 15/10/2017 15:31

jungle and Mrs, if you don't mind me asking, do people have issues with spelling your name? And what is the most common spelling you get? ThanksSmile

I really like it spelt Anneliese

Id personally shorten to either Annie or Liesel as I love both but I think you could quite easily get away with it not being shortened

Hulababy · 15/10/2017 19:14

I know an Annalise and an Annalisa. Both, different ages, tend to be called Anna much of the time.

forestred · 15/10/2017 19:18

I like the Anneliese spelling too, however i just googled that spelling and a lot about an exorcism is coming up... putting me off the name a bit

I knew one as a child in the 90s and have never met another. I love it, can't understand why it's not more popular!

trevthecat · 15/10/2017 19:25

My first name is very similar. I like it. I get a lot of compliments

forestred · 15/10/2017 19:28

Am i right in thinking that Annalise is pronounced Anna-lees where as Anneliese is pronounced Anna-leez-a ?

MrsMotherHen · 15/10/2017 19:46

yes when I was younger People sometimes had a hard time spelling it. It never bothered me one bit i still have to spell my name out often over the phone. I spell Mine Annalise. I couldnt imagine it any other way.

DumbledoresApprentice · 15/10/2017 19:50

I would pronounce Annalise as Ann-uh-lees but Anneliese Ann-uh-lees-uh. Both are lovely names.

BackforGood · 15/10/2017 19:55

I think it is a nice name, but if you really don't like 'Anna' then I'd choose another name. You can "correct" people for the first 5 or 6 years but after that you won't choose what she is called.

cedoren · 15/10/2017 19:55

Am I the only one thinking of Neighbours?

forestred · 15/10/2017 20:00

Thanks everyone, i'm after the pronunciation Anna-lees, so maybe Annalise is a better spelling for us.

Im not a huge fan of the nickname Anna but think i could live with it. Not 100% certain yet anywaySmile

Very lovely. You may not wish to shorten it but she may.

HoneyWheeler · 15/10/2017 20:05

I know an Annalise that goes by Reese

IrregularCommentary · 15/10/2017 20:30

I love the name, but my favourite spelling is Anneliese. Have only ever known it pronounced An-uh-lees, so wouldn't let pronunciation bother you, personally.

bridgetreilly · 15/10/2017 20:34

I think it's lovely. She could be an Annie, a Lisa, a Liesl, an Anneli or a whole host of other things if you don't like Anna.

forestred · 15/10/2017 20:39

Its what comes up when you type Anneleise into google that is putting me offBlush!

OP posts:
Voice0fReason · 15/10/2017 20:39

I love it, but you will not be able to stop other people shortening it so Anna, no matter how much you correct them or complain.

Allthecake · 15/10/2017 22:06

I might be wrong here but I’d pronounce Annaliese as Anna-lee-ez. I think it and Leisel are beautiful names.

Katz · 15/10/2017 22:11

I have an Annalise and she was Annalise when she was little but now mainly goes by Anna. Although she wishes we'd gone for Annalisa as a spelling and pronunciation.

DandySeaLioness · 15/10/2017 22:13

I know one Annalise, everyone calls her Anni.
Lovely name and this is the spelling I like best.
