Royal baby Albert?

Apparently Ladbrokes are offering odds of 14-1 that the Royal baby will be named Albert. But won't that make him Prince Albert, like the intimate piercing?

I know the first (?) Prince Albert (Victoria's husband) came before the piercing, but surely the D&DoC won't use it now they know about the piercing.

Checking as I'm expecting a boy before they are and like the name Albert! Not set on it though.

Btw, it sounds from that^^ as if I know the D&DoC are having a boy - I don't!

Wtf would they (or the majority of the population) know about names given to piercings?ConfusedIt wouldn't have occurred to me that piercings might even have a name.

It makes me think, more happily, of Albert and the Lion.

Sophronia · 06/10/2017 08:07

I don’t think it will be Albert due to the piercing. I think they’re more likely to go with Arthur or Alfred.

Unihorn · 06/10/2017 08:08

Yeah definitely screams piercing to me. I sort of hope they go with it.

FindTheLightSwitchDarren · 06/10/2017 08:11

Grin Errol is that the poem about the little boy getting eaten by a lion? My amazing granny used to recite this at family parties. She did it very well. I'd rather be pierced than eaten though, tbf Wink.

Surely most people know about the piercing... or am I really strange for knowing Grin? I mentioned it to a quite straight laced friend and even he knew what it was, so I thought everyone must!

Oh x-post; glad it's not just me!

Unihorn · 06/10/2017 08:13

My husband has one which is probably the main reason I know however!

FindTheLightSwitchDarren · 06/10/2017 08:20

Ah fair enough unihorn! Does he like it? He must if he's still got one I guess!

What piercing where? I am totally lost.

Shit name for a baby, anyway.

Unihorn · 06/10/2017 08:24

I assume so! Grin I don't really notice it too much.

ErrolTheDragon · 06/10/2017 08:26

My DM could recite albert and the lion too (and the Return of Albert). Which makes me a generation older than you so maybe that explains my ignorance of piercings...

kaytee87 · 06/10/2017 08:29

Have never heard of the piercing. Don't know why the royal family would have heard of it either.

ScarletSienna · 06/10/2017 08:32

I’d think piercing too and I’m the same age as them so I think they’d avoid!

Unihorn · 06/10/2017 08:33

I don't think the royals live in a complete bubble from modern culture. Especially given they both attended university and are of an age where I would assume they would know about the piercing.

FindTheLightSwitchDarren · 06/10/2017 08:34

I'm a year and a bit younger than DoC, so I think they'll know it.

Errol, wonder if you're my auntie Grin! Did you used to be a primary teacher?

sinceyouask · 06/10/2017 08:36

There are more than a handful people who haven't heard of the Prince Albert piercing? I wouldn't have thought so.

kaytee87 · 06/10/2017 08:38

I don't live in a bubble and am 30yo, haven't heard of it. Is it an English thing? Pretty sure it's not a thing in Scotland anyway.

Unihorn · 06/10/2017 08:39

I'm Welsh, so no.

Unihorn · 06/10/2017 08:41

Also it was first around in the 70s so not particularly modern either.

FindTheLightSwitchDarren · 06/10/2017 08:41

I'm not English either. I can't remember if I first heard of it in England, Ireland or Scotland though... Could have been any of them.

elQuintoConyo · 06/10/2017 08:42

I've lived in Barcelona since 1998, so no i haven't heard of it.

Can someone put me out of my misery re the piercing? Is it in the foreskin? I'm guessing foreskin. Or through the nads.

kaytee87 · 06/10/2017 08:43

Think I'm going to have to text my husband and see if he knows what it is Grin

YogaPants · 06/10/2017 08:44

I would bet on Arthur rather than Albert, because of the piercing.

Not such if it was a girl. Alice, maybe?

FindTheLightSwitchDarren · 06/10/2017 08:46

Yeah I reckon Alice if a girl or maybe Elizabeth? I know sisters called Charlotte and Alice. Both born a few years before the royal children.
