Rowan or Kit?

We are down to these two (more or less).

Kit would be Christopher on the bc, but we would introduce him to everyone as Kit until he is old enough to say whether he wants to use a different shortening / full name / completely unrelated nickname.

Other options are Samuel and Lewis. Middle name could be any of these names, or else Wilfred (family name).

Christopher Rowan? or is that too much like Christopher Robin? The Rowan is extremely potent as a guard against magic, witches and all kinds of bad luck - so a very strong name!

Call him Kit day to day ( great nickname) . I called my son a v simple and easily said name thinking he couldn't have a nickname. Well I think even I have come up with a few since then

& seriously - am I out of touch ? I honestly thought Rowan was a girl's name - no offence intended.
