Roux for a girl?

This has come up between friends as a good first name for a girl. What are your thoughts? I personally thought it was a sauce made from flour and milk.

Saucy.

MyBrilliantDisguise · 15/09/2017 18:46

It is a sauce.

TheVanguardSix · 15/09/2017 18:46

Never. Just no.
It is a sauce. It is not a girl's name.

MonkeyJumping · 15/09/2017 18:47

It's a sauce.

Did they mean Rue? That's pronounced the same and is a name in the hunger games book.

PatriciaHolm · 15/09/2017 18:47

It's butter and flour, but yes...

NachoAddict · 15/09/2017 18:47

Its sauce...

Lobsterquadrille2 · 15/09/2017 18:47

Or a chef called Michel. Sorry, I think it's awful as a first name for either sex.

It's the base to make a sauce !

Gluetap · 15/09/2017 18:48

Reminds me of a surgical procedure - Roux en Y gastric bypass for weight loss.

MyBrilliantDisguise · 15/09/2017 18:48

Although apparently it means 'red', too.

GiantSteps · 15/09/2017 18:50

It's the basis of a white sauce. Do people really not know this?

butterfly280 · 15/09/2017 18:53

Definitely spelling it Roux. I thought it was a bit bonkers but everyone else seemed to think it was 'cute'.

GreyFluffball · 15/09/2017 18:56

I know a boy called Roux. Awful.

TorNayDoh · 15/09/2017 18:58

Roux = sauce base
Roue = debauched old man
Rue = herb. Or bitter regret - "I rue the day..."

What about Rouxbee? ;)

Curtainsider · 15/09/2017 18:58

Fat n flour imo too!

TinselTwins · 15/09/2017 18:58

I think it sounds like a burlesque or drag name

anonymousbird · 15/09/2017 18:59

I know Ru, as in short for Rupert.

But Roux is plain flour and butter dreadful.

Cute is no good when you're a grown up!

piefacedClique · 15/09/2017 19:02

Roux is my sons name. It's in the book chocolat (Johnny depps character) It's unusual but it suits him.

Chottie · 15/09/2017 19:03

No, please just no......

villainousbroodmare · 15/09/2017 19:05

A paste of butter and flour used to thicken a sauce. If we're going to take names from the kitchen, I'd prefer Julienne for a girl!

ThisBabyIsAnOctopus · 15/09/2017 19:05

Roo- short for ruth? Otherwise totally bonkers

FinnegansCake · 15/09/2017 19:06

Roux means red/ginger in French. Male.
The female version is rousse.

How about waiting for the baby to be born first, so the name could be more appropriate if necessary? You know, Blonde or Brunette? Or even Baldy Wink

HeartburnCentral · 15/09/2017 19:07

They could use Ruth with nn Roo

Sodaface · 15/09/2017 19:09

Please don't it's just so silly.
