Roux for a girl?

This has come up between friends as a good first name for a girl. What are your thoughts? I personally thought it was a sauce made from flour and milk.

It is a sauce.

Never. Just no.
It is a sauce. It is not a girl's name.

It's a sauce.

Did they mean Rue? That's pronounced the same and is a name in the hunger games book.

Its sauce...

It's butter and flour, but yes...

Or a chef called Michel. Sorry, I think it's awful as a first name for either sex.

Reminds me of a surgical procedure - Roux en Y gastric bypass for weight loss.

Although apparently it means 'red', too.

It's the basis of a white sauce. Do people really not know this?

Definitely spelling it Roux. I thought it was a bit bonkers but everyone else seemed to think it was 'cute'.

I know a boy called Roux. Awful.

Roux = sauce base
Roue = debauched old man
Rue = herb. Or bitter regret - "I rue the day..."

What about Rouxbee? ;)

I think it sounds like a burlesque or drag name

I know Ru, as in short for Rupert.

But Roux is plain flour and butter dreadful.

Cute is no good when you're a grown up!

Roux is my sons name. It's in the book chocolat (Johnny depps character) It's unusual but it suits him.

A paste of butter and flour used to thicken a sauce. If we're going to take names from the kitchen, I'd prefer Julienne for a girl!

Roux means red/ginger in French. Male.
The female version is rousse.

How about waiting for the baby to be born first, so the name could be more appropriate if necessary? You know, Blonde or Brunette? Or even Baldy Wink

They could use Ruth with nn Roo
