What do people think of the name Dash for a boy?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

For a dog, great.
For a human, Christ no

MiniMaxi · 14/09/2017 06:44

I like it! Short for Dashiell so he has options

Mum2OneTeen · 14/09/2017 06:58

No!

TanginaBarrons · 14/09/2017 07:10

Dashiell is very north London try hard though...

Tiddlywinks63 · 14/09/2017 07:14

Then a sister called Dot?
Awful idea, poor kid.

MumBod · 14/09/2017 07:16

Go for it. If you have a girl next you can call her Dot.

Then you can train them to move in formation to insult the neighbours/your MIL/whoever without them realising.

Newbiecat · 14/09/2017 07:18

Dreadful - reminds me of the popular 80s twee clothing brand

EssentialHummus · 14/09/2017 07:20

You know what? I actually like it. I'm surprised by the response here.

RightOnTheEdge · 14/09/2017 07:34

I don't know about Queen Victoria, but I'm sure I saw Queen Elizabeth talking about calling a corgi puppy Dash.

I actually quite like the name but he would have to have the personality to suit it.

backaftera2yearbreak · 14/09/2017 07:37

Nobody would be stupid enough to call their child that surely?

EmmaGrundyForPM · 14/09/2017 07:40

The writer Dashiel Hammond was always known as Dash.

Mclaren37 · 14/09/2017 07:54

I don't understand the outrage here, Dashiell is a perfectly normal name and Dash is a short version of it. Not my favourite name of all time it tastes vary and it's a perfectly nice name choice.

TheNaze73 · 14/09/2017 07:57

It's not my favourite name

Redpramlady · 14/09/2017 07:57

My cousins just named their dog dash
Lots of people name their dogs names like Harry Henry etc but dash seems a bit more let like yet kind of cool

Elbi · 14/09/2017 08:19

I actually like it but would worry for him on Sports Day. You wouldn't want to be a slow kid called Dash.

theothersideoftheworld · 14/09/2017 08:22

For a reindeer yes. For a boy no.

Moggie45 · 14/09/2017 08:25

No... and it has just reminded me of my time in the late 80's working at House of Fraser in the Dash concession flogging crap clothes in awful colours ....

Moggie45 · 14/09/2017 08:29

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 14/09/2017 10:02

Yes, as a shortening for Dashiel, it's fine.😄

MammieBear · 14/09/2017 10:18

It can work, look at Dashiell.

IsabelleSE19 · 14/09/2017 10:23

Dashiell is a lovely name and Dash is the obvious shortening. Definitely that though - not Dash on the birth certificate.

badtime · 14/09/2017 11:15

Dash from The Incredibles is actually called Dashiell as well. Dash isn't a name, it's punctuation.

Theveryhungrybutterfly · 15/09/2017 22:59

Nope 👎🏼

bridgetreilly · 15/09/2017 23:00

I'd assume you couldn't think of a name and just put _ on the birth certificate.

pancakesfortea · 15/09/2017 23:02

We have a Dashiell at work, Dash for short. (very regular work environment). No one thinks it's silly.
