Hmm I like both, personally prefer Jessica

Do you have a preference for Jess/Jessie or Jen/Jenny?

Mollybear12 · 13/09/2017 16:03

I like all the shortened versions , just I think Jessica is really popular i see it listed in top ten all the the time xx

I'm going to be honest I think both are dated. However I like Jessica more.

Genevieve could be an option?

steppemum · 13/09/2017 16:08

My cousin was going to call their daughter Jennifer and then changed to Jessica and my Mum was astonished, she said they are just not in the same class at all. Jennifer was a 'common' name and Jessica 'classy'

I was surprised, as I had never thoguht of either of them like that!

But I do like Jessica. Jennifer (and Jenny) is a name very common amongst women I know, so it must be quite a 70s name.

StarHeartDiamond · 13/09/2017 16:10

Both nice but Jennifer very popular in 70s/80s and (personally) I'm not a fan of Jen/Jenny... they're ok but bland/boring.

Jessica might be more popular at the moment but imho it's definitely prettier, as is Jess as a nn. To me it's girly/feminine but not overly sugar sweet or frilly. Jess sounds like a friendly girl, its got a positive aura about it I think.

Jessica

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 13/09/2017 16:38

I prefer Jessica. I love Jess/Jessie but have heard Jessica shortened to Jecca which is much less usual,.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 13/09/2017 16:59

I like both, but would prefer to be called Jess/Jessica.

MammieBear · 13/09/2017 17:04

Jennifer as you want somthing less popular, you may also like Allison, jessamine, juniper, Rebecca.

Wobblebeans · 13/09/2017 17:21

I prefer Jessica, but then my DD2 is called Jessica Rose so I may be biased on that one Smile

Migraleve · 13/09/2017 17:31

have heard Jessica shortened to Jecca which is much less usual

Sounds like a one year old struggling to say Jessica Grin

I like Jennifer but not Jenny

gingerscot · 13/09/2017 18:17

Jennifer definitely

ChessieFL · 13/09/2017 18:35

I like both. DD is 7 and there are 3 Jessicas in her class of about 20 girls. I don't know any little Jennifers though.

Alulu123 · 13/09/2017 18:48

Definitely Jennifer. I work in a school with 1600 students and we don't even have one. There are at least 5 Jessica's in every year group!

Yourshakraishangingout · 13/09/2017 19:06

Jennifer seems dated to me too sorry.
I like Jessica nn Jessa

Jooni · 13/09/2017 19:08

I prefer Jessica. It's a bit frilly for my usual taste but I think Jess is great!

MadameJosephine · 13/09/2017 19:12

My DD is Jennifer so I am biased but I really don't like Jessica. To me Jennifer is a much stronger name than Jessica. I like Jenny but my DD doesn't, she insists on her full name

2littlemoos · 13/09/2017 19:14

Jessica but I'm biased

Lottey90 · 13/09/2017 19:16

I do like Jessica but having had a think about your post, Jennifer is lovely. Imagine a gorgeous little four year old Jenny. Too cute.
Jessica and jess seems a bit too popular.

Logoplanter · 13/09/2017 19:26

Love Jessica. Jennifer is dated.

Muddlingalongalone · 13/09/2017 19:28

Love them both. Wish ExH had liked them.

tinypop4 · 13/09/2017 19:29

I don't like the name Jennifer personally and I love Jessica so I would choose that. But, it is quite popular.

MadameJosephine · 13/09/2017 19:30

lottey90 I have a gorgeous little four year old Jenny! Smile

Biscuitsneeded · 13/09/2017 19:31

Both nice, both not so trendy now which could be a good thing! I think Of Jennifer as a 70s name and Jessica as 80s/90s. I do liek Jess a lot though.

Other possibilities:
Jessamy
Genevieve

CrizzleMyShizzle · 13/09/2017 19:32

I prefer Jennifer. Seems much fresher.Jessica has been done to death over the past 25 years.
