Billie for a girl?

It would be in memory of my DH Dad.

I really like it but I can't imagine it being a baby name. I can imagine a teen/adult but not baby.

What do you think. Does anyone know a Billie?

Not keen. It's OK as a nickname I suppose. But absolutely not as a name on a birth certificate. Awful.

I think it's lovely, but it always makes me think of the beautiful daughter of an amazing MNer, who sadly passed away when she was just a teenager, so it is tinged with sadness too.

It also makes me think of the singer, who I absolutely adore.

The Billie I know is actually Wilhelmina, but I didn't find that out until I'd known her for about 6 years! She was only ever known as Billie, and I think it's fab as a standalone name. Super cool.

There were at least 3 Billies on TOWIE and I thought it was a nice name. And they are all in their early 20s so it does work on an adult.

I know a few older Billies when i was nursery nursing decades ago it was quite populor (sp) it is a fine name

I think it's a great name. And there are some fantastic Billie's around. Billie Piper and Billie Jean King to name just a couple.

My nanas friend was Billie (probably Williamenia) and if they were still alive they would be 102 so I guess it goes back actual centuries ☺

I know a Billie who is named as such on her birth certificate and another who is Elizabeth but has always been known as Billie.

I immediately think of Billie Piper.
It's ok I guess, not keen though. I'm not a fan of male names on girls and I do think of Billy/Billie as that.

I know one, aged about 12 now but I knew her better when she was about 8 or 9. It suits her

And of course there's Billie Piper who wears it well as an adult

Dawn French and Lenny Henry's now adult DD is Billie.
