Billie for a girl?

It would be in memory of my DH Dad.

I really like it but I can't imagine it being a baby name. I can imagine a teen/adult but not baby.

What do you think. Does anyone know a Billie?

I know a 3 year old female Billie and it really suits her.

If Millie/Tilly are ok then why not Billie?

Buntysoven · 27/08/2017 22:59

My friend is Billie short for Belinda and you'd only sing MJ to her once Grin

MissAlabamaWhitman · 28/08/2017 19:40

I know a Billie, she's a thirty four year old stripper.

I think it's a very cool name. Strong and feminine. The name will always remind me too of lovely Billie and her amazing MNer mum.

PandaCat · 29/08/2017 17:01

I like it!

SparklingBollox · 29/08/2017 17:03

I love it and also think of a lovely posters beautiful Billie when I hear it.

LorLorr2 · 29/08/2017 17:04

Lol, she's not going to be a baby for long OP so I wouldn't dismiss a name because of it not suiting such a small age range! It's a really cool name :) thumbs up from over here

Francis What's the significance? Confused

daisymai08 · 29/08/2017 21:41

Love it x

GeillisTheWitch · 29/08/2017 21:44

What's the significance?

I'm guessing King Billy and the Orange Order. Mostly significant in the west of Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Liadain · 29/08/2017 21:48

There's a charming little ditty (aka sectarian loyalist song) called the Billy Boys. It used to get sung at Scottish football matches and among certain groups in NI.

It goes on about Fenians, blood and surrendering before you die.

Love it

Think the "No more Catholics left" scene from Trainspotting 2 to see the mentality behind it.

It's fab. Makes me think of Billie Holiday 😁

Kellyturnbull · 29/08/2017 23:48

Love Billie for a girl, lovely that it has sentiment behind it too
I know a little Andi, named after her dad! Ronnie named after her grandad and a Stevie after her dad too! All gorgeous little girls who suit there names :)
We named our baby girl Finley 💗! If you like the name go for it, I know a few girl Billies ranging in age from toddler to 20s who all love their name :)

Marcipex · 30/08/2017 03:17

Billie is lovely. I can't honestly go for Wilhemina though.
