I don't like it at all. Its a personal dislike though rather than for a particular reason. I just don't like that style of name; Stanley, Arthur, Sid etc

I do think it's worth bearing in mind there is a charity called Eric.

Erik is nicer (IMO) than Eric by miles.

Op - he had an uncle eric he didnt like. Its a traditional family name in dads family. Going back hundreds of years.

I like it. Viking! Eric Northman from True Blood! Eric the alter ego of Bananaman off the 80's! Go for it!!

AnotherLegoBrick · 12/08/2017 08:12

It's a great name for a cat.

I like it. I wanted to call ds2 Eric but exh and exmil weren't keen. It was late fil middle name. I used it as a middle name as well so still got it in there.

LOVE IT.

If I have a boy, totally going with Eric.

TimbuktuTimbuktu · 12/08/2017 19:19

Whenever Eric eats a banana...

HeadfirstForHalos · 12/08/2017 19:29

I like Eric. I only know one little Eric, his name really suits him 🙂

drinkingtea · 12/08/2017 19:31

Spell it with a K - much better, stompy Viking name :o

GherkinSnatch · 12/08/2017 19:32

Good strong Viking name - I like it! I wanted DD to be Erica, and I've got Eric/a on my list for DC3 when we have another.

Cart man references won't mean anything to kids these days. It's like saying "oh Eric Forman from That 70's Show".

chocatoo · 12/08/2017 19:32

Yes, I like it. Also like the idea of ending it with a k rather than a c. Can be shortened to Rik too, which I also like.

picknmiss · 13/08/2017 07:37

I loved Erik for DC1, it's a family name on DH's side but in Finnish it's pronounced Ear-rik (not that we would have pronounced it that way in the UK).
The reason we didn't use it was because an acquaintance had a baby Eric a few months before and there was a lot of sniggering behind her back such as 'imagine a baby Eric! It's like calling a baby Ken, who does that' Sad and it really put me off, which is cowardly of me

mummytwoh · 13/08/2017 22:39

I still think of flat Eric (yellow puppet thing had a song out nodded its head) anyone know what I'm talking about lol
