Unless you're actually Scandinavian I think Erik is a bit achingly try-hard.

Bardo · 11/08/2017 20:34

The putney bridge jogger

TheLegendOfBeans · 11/08/2017 20:36

Trade the "c" for a "k" and you're there. Don't worry about spelling it forever...I think the "c" spelling may actually die out.

Wingbing · 11/08/2017 20:37

I love it! (But then I have an Erik)

I love Norse mythology and Vikings.

Intheknickersoftime · 11/08/2017 20:48

"The putney bridge jogger"

erm....what?

ThursdayLastWeek · 11/08/2017 20:53

I love it - Eric would have been on my list if it weren't a family name.

SophieofShepherdsBush · 11/08/2017 20:55

Also the children's incontinence charity?

SophieofShepherdsBush · 11/08/2017 20:59

I've got one by the wayGrin
But I like it being not too popularBlushGrin

dowhatyouwish · 11/08/2017 21:00

Personally don't like it but it's defo a classic name.

ohhelpohnoitsa · 11/08/2017 21:18

I love it too. Very cool imo.

MoonPower · 11/08/2017 21:18

Ha! Makes me think of Eric B & Rakim - 80's hip hop duo Grin

Xeneth88 · 11/08/2017 21:19

Love it but then my boys have similar old names apart from one who is an Alfred.

GaryBarlowsTaxReturn · 11/08/2017 21:20

It's sweet! I like it.

P0ndLife · 11/08/2017 21:23

... the half a bee! Grin
DS has a marmite name too though, just means 50% of people LOVE it!

Unescorted · 11/08/2017 21:25

It is a great name with either spelling. Almost worth having another for.

Becks4Saints · 11/08/2017 21:31

My cats called Eric 🙈

joolspoon · 11/08/2017 21:59

Hideous

rollonthesummer · 11/08/2017 22:04

I really love the name, Eric.

I've taught a surprising number over the last few years-I even had three in my class two years ago. One Eric and two Eriks (from Eastern Europe)-all really lovely boys which definitely endears you to a name!

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 11/08/2017 22:05

Love it. Eric Bana and Prince Eric from The Little Mermaid - I rest my case Grin

Dustbunny1900 · 11/08/2017 22:10

My father and nephew are Erics..I think it's very strong, masculine, Viking type name. Classic.
But then I'm biased 🤷🏼‍♀️

Yika · 11/08/2017 22:13

Love it.

ASqueakingInTheShrubbery · 11/08/2017 22:14

No. Ageing uncle, not old enough to be a fashionable grandad name. Eric is probably married to Patricia, widely regarded as a nice bloke, lives in a nicely-maintained suburban semi, retiring from his job as an engineer, and likes to take his grandchildren to the football at the weekend. Not a name I'd give a baby.

ThursdayLastWeek · 11/08/2017 22:18

ASqueaking you just described it's appeal to me!

cocofox · 11/08/2017 22:18

Love it - it's a family name for me so would definitely consider using it. My only association is the prince in the little mermaid! Smile

LouiseBrooks · 11/08/2017 22:23

I used to know an Eric. Sexy as hell (sadly he was married, we were only work colleagues, nothing else). We all joked about his name though.
