I like James but it's not a girls name so thoughts on Jamie?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I find it very 80s and 90s American, honestly. Jamie Lynn Spears etc.

So I'm not a fan. But I'm also not a fan of Jamie as a nickname for James.

Cynara · 23/07/2017 21:55

I quite like it, but would spell it Jaime.

TeenAndTween · 23/07/2017 21:56

I think people will think she's a boy, like Jamie Oliver.

Save James for next DC (if there is one).
Think of a lovely girls name to go with it and use that instead.

TeenAndTween · 23/07/2017 21:57

or J'aime Smile ? No.

heavenlypink · 23/07/2017 21:57

I know a Jamie-Lee (Girl) She's 9 'Suits' her iykwim I like it

Heatherbell1978 · 23/07/2017 21:57

It's nice but it's Jaime for a girl unless you want your daughter to be mistaken for a boy (on paper) her whole life.

Ceebs85 · 23/07/2017 21:58

I'd spell it Jaime as that's the girl version. I wouldn't choose it but there's nothing wrong with it so if you love it, go for it!

MikeUniformMike · 23/07/2017 21:58

James for a girl is a bit weird. Jamie, the same but not unheard of.

grafittiartist · 23/07/2017 21:59

Love it!

BlahBlahBlahEtc · 23/07/2017 21:59

I know a Jamie that's a girl, she's a lovely girl and has never had any problems with her name.

I also knew a Jaime that was a boy...

Canshopwillshop · 23/07/2017 21:59

I love it.

NataliaOsipova · 23/07/2017 22:01

I find it very 80s and 90s American, honestly

My thoughts too.....

Kazzawazza69 · 23/07/2017 22:04

My friend's 9 year old(I think?) daughter is called Jamie, she's a lovely girl and I can't imagine her being called anything else.

TroysMammy · 23/07/2017 22:06

I know an adult named Jamie who is an awful woman so it's a no sorry.

NotYoonique · 23/07/2017 22:07

I'm a girl Jaime :) There are certainly more now than when I was born. Only issue I have with my name is that people can have it right in front of them and still spell it wrong sigh

pinkunicornsarefluffy · 23/07/2017 22:11

I know 3 female Jamie's. although I think one is spelled Jaymie. I've always thought of it as a unisex name.

I prefer Jaymie to Jaime.

Somebody famous recently called their girl James? Can't think who though.

rupertintheroom · 23/07/2017 22:30

pink that was Blake Lively

PandaCat · 24/07/2017 07:58

I don't like it, as a boy or girl name, but that's because of the person I know with the name. If you like it, go for it

PuffinsSitOnMuffins · 24/07/2017 08:02

How is Jaime pronounced then? I'd assume it was said 'jaym' or the French j'aime, not Jamie.

MikeUniformMike · 24/07/2017 10:17

You're too young to have watched The Bionic Woman in the 1970s then Puffins.

grufallosfriend · 24/07/2017 11:30

I know a girl Jamie.

Secretbiscuits · 24/07/2017 11:34

So many nice girls names I never understand why people want to use boys names instead.

MrsGotobed · 24/07/2017 11:41

I know an adult Jaime but she's known as Jay.

DappledThings · 24/07/2017 12:48

Jaime is a Spanish boy's name. Any time I see a girl called Jaime that's all I can think of.
