"Dazli" name for baby girl?

Hello all,

My husband and I are struggling to find a name for our baby girl.
We live in the UK, I am Brazilian and he is Colombian. We want something short, different and that can be pronounced in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
Yesterday I was watching a movie and the word Dazzling called my attention. So I made up the name "**Dazli".
Apparently it doesn't exist. And it ticks all the boxes.

What do you think of this name?
Please help in case I am missing some weird correlation to the name in English.

Thanks

Reminds me of washing powder sorry

sleepyhead · 21/07/2017 09:37

Soap powder.

How about Desiree?

sleepyhead · 21/07/2017 09:37

Actually, scrap that. Potatoes.

CalmItKermitt · 21/07/2017 09:37

Awful. Sorry.

BlueFlying · 21/07/2017 09:38

It doesn't even work in Portuguese. Sorry!

Rainbowqueeen · 21/07/2017 09:39

Name of a porn star
Sorry

InvisableLobstee · 21/07/2017 09:39

A lot of people don't like made up names, they think it sounds like an uneducated choice.
Why not something popular in Brazil or Columbia that is more unusual in the UK, but not unpronouncable for English speakers.

elQuintoConyo · 21/07/2017 09:40

Um, no.

It makes me think Bobby Dazzler (hard to explain).

BertrandRussell · 21/07/2017 09:41

Daz is a popular brand of washing powder-you need to think again

How about Anna? I think that ticks all your boxes.

elQuintoConyo · 21/07/2017 09:42

What about Omaira? My Columbian friend's name, i love it. (pron oh-my-ra)

Floggingmolly · 21/07/2017 09:42

Apparently it doesn't exist. Leave it that way; there's a damn good reason for it...

GinIsIn · 21/07/2017 09:44

I think your clue is in "I made up the name"...

Don't do it, it's awful!

Kr1stina · 21/07/2017 09:44

No. There are plenty names that will work in all three languages. Dazli isn't one of them.

ProfAnnieT · 21/07/2017 09:46

Dazli is a place in Turkey.

Upanddownroundandround · 21/07/2017 09:46

When I read it it made me think of vajazzle. I don't know why but it did. Sorry.

supersix · 21/07/2017 09:48

Um...no. A million times no. That is a bad idea.

Creatureofthenight · 21/07/2017 09:48

In many (all?) parts of the UK, Daz is used as a nickname for Darren - your name made me think Daz Lee.

PaperdollCartoon · 21/07/2017 09:48

Please don't make up a name. It sounds awful, like a stripper name. Think about when your daughter is an adult and has to give her name at work.

Why not use something Brazilian or Colombian that's pronounceable in English?

SquedgieBeckenheim · 21/07/2017 09:50

There are literally thousands of actual names, plenty will work for all 3 languages. Please don't make up a name, your child has to live with it for the rest of their life or until 18 when they can change it by deed poll

AuntieStella · 21/07/2017 09:53

II don't think that in UK any association would be with 'dazzle'.

Daz is a major washing powder brand and it's been around for decades.

Or people might think they've misheard Daisy.

If you want a radiant name, how about Lucia/Lux/Lucy?

Orangebird69 · 21/07/2017 09:54

Awful.

selavy · 21/07/2017 09:54

That "name" is terrible and definitely doesn't work in Portuguese - sorry OP!
There are plenty of Latin names that work really well in English and if you live in the UK, I think picking something that can be easily spelled by an English-speaker should be the way to go. Having to spell out your name to people every single time is incredibly frustrating, trust me!

LaContessaDiPlump · 21/07/2017 09:59

Sorry, it sounds awful.

Delphi
Delphine
Darine
Zara
Tuline

A few unusual yet pronouncable ones there hopefully!

BertrandRussell · 21/07/2017 09:59

Anna
Lucia
Katerina
My English/Spanish niece is Miranda-would that work in Portuguese?

Whatslovegottodo · 21/07/2017 10:09

So many short and lovely girls names would work for you both.
Luiza
Ester
Ana
Nina
Plus loads more.
