"Dazli" name for baby girl?

Hello all,

My husband and I are struggling to find a name for our baby girl.
We live in the UK, I am Brazilian and he is Colombian. We want something short, different and that can be pronounced in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
Yesterday I was watching a movie and the word Dazzling called my attention. So I made up the name "**Dazli".
Apparently it doesn't exist. And it ticks all the boxes.

What do you think of this name?
Please help in case I am missing some weird correlation to the name in English.

Thanks

Hahaha it sounds like this was a terrible idea. Good thing I decided to ask it here.
The names we have in our list are:

Halen
Paola
Lara

I like Lara a lot. I wouldn't be certain of how to pronounce Halen, and Paola sounds middle aged to me.

SquedgieBeckenheim · 21/07/2017 11:02

Much better choices.
I would go for Halen or Lara.

crumpet · 21/07/2017 11:04

Paola is lovely

Imspartacusforreal · 21/07/2017 11:05

I think any female name with the prefix of 'Daz' just sounds masculine and reminds people of the soap powder.

I think Halen is lovely and unique

BertrandRussell · 21/07/2017 11:30

I wouldn't go for Halen- it would constantly be mistaken for Helen, which would get very boring after a while.

marjanecarvalho · 21/07/2017 11:33

I love Halen and my son does too. He is 3 and half and won't accept any other name. My husband prefer Lara and Paola is our back up.
I am hoping that when baby is born, she looks like a Halen.
I am glad to see some positive comments about it as it is not very common.

Thank you all!!!

Halen like Van Halen?

Lara or Paola win it for me.

Loyly · 21/07/2017 14:18

From your list, Lara or Paola.

RhubardGin · 21/07/2017 14:28

Chavvy yes I said the C word and completely made up, sounds like washing powder.

RhubardGin · 21/07/2017 14:29

From your list I would choose Lara Smile

Faithless · 21/07/2017 14:29

I love Latino names like Aurelia, Ramona and Bruna and know a little girl with Portuguese parents called Leandra, all work well in English. However there is a lot of diversity in England now and I think we are getting better at pronouncing non English names so I wouldn't worry too much. Having said that I have a Columbian friend named Juliana (pronounced Hooliana) who had put up with constant mispronunciation of her name in England due to the different sound of the "J", so you might like to give names beginning with 'J' a miss.

emwithme · 21/07/2017 14:32

Halen as in Van Halen?

florascotianew · 21/07/2017 15:01

Don't know whether this mattters, but 'Halen' is Welsh for 'salt', and is a well-known brand-name: www.halenmon.com/about-us/anglesey-sea-salt-or-halen-mon/

Sophronia · 21/07/2017 16:54

It makes me think of the Arabic name Nazli.

Highpeak · 21/07/2017 19:18

Lara!
Would have called my daughter this but it didn't go with the middle name we wanted

MikeUniformMike · 21/07/2017 19:24

Halen as in Halen Mo^n or Van Halen.
Daz. No.
Nazli is pretty.

user1498911589 · 21/07/2017 19:29

Daz washing powder was my first thought. How about Estela or Eva? Gloria? Ines/Inez?

BarbarianMum · 21/07/2017 19:30

Halen, Lara and Paola are all lovely.

marjanecarvalho · 21/07/2017 19:32

In case my husband and I can't decide between Lara and Halen, what do you guys think of both names together :

Lara Halen?

I am not a fan of two names to be honest but this may be the solution for our impasse.

Thanks

What about Daila or Desi?

Lara is lovely

Marcipex · 21/07/2017 22:30

It's a cheap washing powder.

Marcipex · 21/07/2017 22:34

Aurelia and Leandra are both nice.

Halen will be misspelt as Helen all the time, but Hayley , although rather dated, will be recognised as a girls name.

There are a zillion Lara's around, if that matters to you.

selavy · 22/07/2017 08:08

How are you pronouncing Halen in Portuguese OP?

ProfAnnieT · 22/07/2017 10:45

Halen might get mis-spelled as Helen, but Hayley is equally if not more likely to get mis-spelled: Hayleigh, Hailey, Haylie, Haylee... Eminem's daughter spells it Hailie (she's 21! I feel old...)
