Eric - cute or old man?

DH and I have both agreed we like the name Eric. Both of my grandads were Eric and if we have a boy, I would definitely want it in there somewhere. I thought it would make a good middle name but the more we think about it, the more we like it as a Christian name. Or are we lumbering a baby with an old man's name? Granted, he'll be old some day but still!

You call your baby what you like at the end of the day . He will be named after relatives .
It's not the worse name you could've chose if you're going old man chic

BuzzKillington · 17/07/2017 21:37

Awful.

Alcea · 17/07/2017 21:37

I think of Eric Clapton!

Old man name

DollyLlama · 17/07/2017 21:37

I really like it but my OH won't entertain it.

Unusual too, can't say I've heard of any other than Simon Cowells son

DramaInPyjamas · 17/07/2017 21:38

I just think of Bananaman

Sophronia · 17/07/2017 21:39

I like it!

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 17/07/2017 21:43

Well both. Yes old man, but also adorable. I'm surprised its not more popular, really.
Plus old man names are all in now, aren't they.

skyzumarubble · 17/07/2017 21:44

Old man but in a good way. I really like it.

PlymouthMaid1 · 17/07/2017 21:51

I think of Eric Harris, one of the Columbine shooters Blush sorry op

Mwnci123 · 17/07/2017 21:56

I think it's good to have a name that isn't too trendy. I don't love it but I don't hate it, and I hate most of the names people ask about on Mumsnet.

Northernexile · 17/07/2017 21:59

It makes me think of Eric Cantona. Which, for me, is a definite good and cool thing. I say go for it.

Rhubarbtart9 · 17/07/2017 21:59

Adore it!!

Joeybee · 17/07/2017 22:08

I really like Eric. It is a bit of a dated name, but I think it'll be coming back soon, names always come back around. When I hear Eric I think of a kind, intelligent, sharp person. Eric was on my list until i realised it clashed with my surname! Only thing with Eric is that there's no nickname really for it.

RiverTam · 17/07/2017 22:11

Lovely name, I know a 4 year old one.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 17/07/2017 22:11

Cool !

HeadDreamer · 17/07/2017 22:16

It is top of our list for boy's names but we only have DDs. We would have an Eric otherwise.

twinkle1972 · 17/07/2017 22:16

Not for me. My partner is called Eric though and uses his middle name because he dislikes his first name, so maybe that's swayed me

Littlemisspanda · 17/07/2017 22:18

I like it

anchor9 · 17/07/2017 22:19

Synecdoche · 17/07/2017 22:22
