I don't know why I like it, but I do! Is it ridiculous?

I like it.

TheForgetfulCat · 17/07/2017 08:47

Charlie and Lola writer has a daughter named Tuesday. That would convert me to the idea Smile

Logically it isn't any odder than calling a child April or May or Poppy or Hope or Grace, but it is a word we aren't used to as a name so sounds peculiar. I think you'd get used to it.

IsadoraQuagmire · 17/07/2017 12:48

I do love Tuesday Weld, her birth name is Susan though (also love that name actually)
And I know a girl called Tuesday, but that's not her original name either.

thethoughtfox · 17/07/2017 13:19

We had a cat called Tuesday

SapphirePearl · 17/07/2017 13:21

I worked with a Tuesday once but she ended up in some bother.

In the press, nearly every commenter remarked on her name negatively!

RiverTam · 17/07/2017 13:22

Actually, I think it has a ring to it. I don't think I'd ever dare but if you think you, and she, could carry it off, go for it! After all, January Jones doesn't sound so daft anymore.

sauceyorange · 17/07/2017 13:24

Also a fforde fan. Thursday, Tuesday and Friday in one family :)

BenLui · 17/07/2017 13:24

The child would have to be born in a Tuesday for it to work at all.

Think hard about this name because although I don't think it's too awful, it will need a child with a certain kind of personality to carry off with aplomb.

And you can't guarantee that or create it. Babies are not born blank slates and they don't always take after their parents.

upperlimit · 17/07/2017 13:25

Tuesday: Are we going on Wednesday?
Person 2: No, Tuesday
Tuesday: Well, when then?
Person 2: Tuesday
Tuesday: What?

It'll be like living in a never ending Chuckle Brothers skit.

NC4now · 17/07/2017 13:27

Tuesday is the worst day of the week. I'd be more likely to hang out with a kid called Saturday. Mind you, Sunday would be pretty cool.
Not keen on Tuesday though. Never have been.

Scheisse · 17/07/2017 13:32

Works more as a stage name instead of a proper name.

Ginger782 · 17/07/2017 13:37

I grew up knowing a couple of girls called Mardi (Tuesday in French)...

upperlimit · 17/07/2017 13:39

I know a few Mardi cows.

Jooni · 17/07/2017 14:46

Sorry, I think it's silly as a name. I know lots of words are also used as names, but Tuesday is just so... wordy. I just can't picture a person called Tuesday.

Sunday is a bit better, for some reason (and a much nicer day, as someone else said!) Or how about the Cornish name Loveday?

user1471456357 · 17/07/2017 14:55

I know a Tuesday, late 20's, lovely, so I have a positive association.
I like it!

MikeUniformMike · 17/07/2017 15:54

I like it.

laGrosellaEspinosa · 17/07/2017 15:55

My bins are collected on a Tuesday so I'm going to say no.

laGrosellaEspinosa · 17/07/2017 15:56

Jooni, I know what you mean, it's very wordy. I think Thursday and Saturday are worse though. Wednesday works better imo. Friday is happy sounding, and it is far less stoopid than say 'Apple'. But Tuesday sounds both weird and yet mundane

cheesydoesit · 17/07/2017 15:57

I bloody love it! A friend of a friend was called this and she really suited it. I think it's cool.

Breezybreeze · 17/07/2017 15:57

Remember how, much Nicole Kidman was laughed at about naming her dd Sunday. And Sunday has much nicer connotations than Tuesday

BogQueens · 17/07/2017 15:59

I quite like it, despite once having taught a Tuesday Biddle who had as her middle name a date -- I can't remember what I was, because I only saw it on a list where everyone's full names were given. Her full name was something like Tuesday November the Seventeenth Biddle.

Will it work with your surname?

Plexie · 17/07/2017 16:07

I like it but then I love Jasper Fforde's Thursday Next books.

SheSaidHeSaid · 17/07/2017 17:01

I used to know a Tuesday, but then her dad was in a band so it seemed to fit because it isn't the norm.

scrivette · 17/07/2017 21:44

I like it. It was one of the girls names in a Point Horror book I used to love when I was younger (her brothers were Brown and West).

FromDistantOphir · 17/07/2017 21:47

I like it
