What are your thoughts on Pippin nn Pip for a boy?

What are your thoughts on Percival? Do you think it would get shortened? Any other shortening than Percy or Perry?

Pippin is definitely an animal name, for me (my first cat)!

DramaAlpaca · 12/07/2017 23:38

You are having a laugh with us OP, right?

BackforGood · 12/07/2017 23:58

Another all round 'no' for both from me.
Both awful names.

PlymouthMaid1 · 13/07/2017 00:06

Terrible names even tho my granddad was a Percival.

SerfTerf · 13/07/2017 00:19

Perseus NN Percy?

Philip NN Pip?

Scrumpington · 13/07/2017 00:54

Pippin is a great name for a Shetland pony and Percival would suit a Georgette Heyer hero.

Neither would work on a real life boy/man. These will be your 'strange names my hormones tricked me into liking' names. Hopefully! 😅

LucieLucie · 13/07/2017 03:33

Seriously awful names. Pippin is surely only a dogs name? I've never even heard of a character in a novel with such a name.

As for Percival, would you like to be called that? It's grotesque.

MrsBakedBean · 13/07/2017 11:06

Awful, awful. Do you not like children?

Lemondrop99 · 13/07/2017 15:00

Even Pippin in Lord of the Rings didn't have it as his full name. Pippin was short for Peregrin

Onedaysoooon · 13/07/2017 15:26

Really really bad.

Ginlinessisnexttogodliness · 13/07/2017 21:28

I feel awful writing this as I know it's hurtful when people, slam names you love.
But what in the name of Christ on a Bike are you thinking??.

If you want to give a child a name which will ensure he is mocked and teased until the end of days then Pippin is the way to go. Percival is just the wrong side of old fashioned for me and not quirky just fusty and lumpy

Sorry 🙈

MollyHuaCha · 13/07/2017 23:41

Poor OP, sorry to add to the diatribe, but I think the names aren't that great. Do you have any others on your list?

helly29 · 14/07/2017 08:17

What about Perryn?

MrsBakedBean · 14/07/2017 08:26

Perryn...really ?

MeltorPeltor · 14/07/2017 08:27

Love Percy. Pippin is a hobbit.

ShuttyTown · 14/07/2017 08:28

Fucks sake what's wrong with people. All the names in the world and you chose Pippin and Percival 🙄

NoSquirrels · 14/07/2017 08:36

I think animal not human for both, I'm afraid.

NoSquirrels · 14/07/2017 08:39

I seriously considered Barnabas /Barnaby. Very seriously. Apologies to anyone out there who has one, but now I think what a lucky escape that was! Grin

LorelaiVictoriaGilmore · 14/07/2017 11:21

I love, love, love Percy. My ds has a Percy in his gymnastics class and he is just adorable. Thanks to Thomas and Friends, Percy was also one of the first names my ds was able to say which makes me love it a bit too.

Percival would suit a Georgette Heyer hero. And this is a bad thing?!

LorelaiVictoriaGilmore · 14/07/2017 11:22

Peregrine is a lovely name. and the name of a Georgette Heyer character

TartanDMs · 14/07/2017 11:24

Pippin is Lynda Baron's dog. Pip is cute but short for Philip (like in Great Expectations). Percival is at least a real name, but a bit... Coronation Street. It also makes me think of a pigeon and I don't know why.

Flofferton · 14/07/2017 11:25

Peregrine is a lovely name.

Well this is a blatant lie!

Grin
