Remy is an alcoholic drink

TheHodgeoftheHedge · 07/07/2017 22:26

DJME · 07/07/2017 22:28

justanotheryoungmother · 07/07/2017 22:41

Remi

HappyLollipop · 07/07/2017 22:47

Remi for a girl, Remy comes off as a bit more of a masculine spelling and reminds me of the Chelsea footballer!

florascotianew · 07/07/2017 22:50

Remy or Remi is a short form of the male name Remigus which means 'oarsman'.
A bishop with the same name was a leading figure in French history. He was made a saint, and there are many statues and paintings of him. He's usually shown in bishop's robes, sometimes with a big bushy beard.
You can see some examples here en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint_Remigius

As others have said, Remy Martin is the brand name of a very well-known French brandy.

And there must be getting on for 50 villages named Saint-Remy in France.

Yes, there is an American female rapper called Remy Ma, but her full first name is Reminisce.

Sophronia · 07/07/2017 23:22

Neither, it's a boys name.

DJME · 07/07/2017 23:23

I love it for a boy, would assume boy if I saw it written down. Either spelling OK.

Lynnm63 · 08/07/2017 02:58

Girls name Remy but she was a St Bernard. Only person I know is a man, same spelling.

KoalaDownUnder · 08/07/2017 03:00

Remi, if you must.

Pretty sure it's a boys' name. Romy is girls'.

nooka · 08/07/2017 05:27

Remy is a boys name - well a French man's name really, I have met one, very French and suave he was too.(or of course a rat, not a bad film character to be named after). I don't think misspelling it with an 'i' makes it more feminine. If you are really keen I'd look for a longer name where you can use Remy/Remi as a diminutive. Or choose Romy instead.

Remi :) think it's nice for a girl but my girl hasn't got a "conventional" girls name it's unisex

Birdsgottaf1y · 08/07/2017 09:07

I know two Remi's, all girls, all under 10. One is dark and one is fair, it suits both of them.

I don't know its origin but it's becoming predominantly a girls name, the masculine being spelt with a Y.

DJME · 08/07/2017 10:07

it looks like not many people are a fanSad

Wallywobbles · 08/07/2017 10:31

Both male names in France.

flumpybear · 08/07/2017 12:46

I like it, it was on my list of possible girls names along with Tabitha, sorrel and Saskia

ShutupanddriveM5 · 08/07/2017 16:05

Beyoncé has just named her daughter this so expect people to think you copied her ;)

Foniks · 08/07/2017 16:12

I think Beyonce called hers Rumi, not Remi?

I've always liked Remi. Growing up I only ever met Nigerians named Remi and didn't realise there was a Euro version for years Nigerian version is usually short for something like Oluremi though.

MrsMarthaHudson · 08/07/2017 16:14

I prefer Romy for a girl.

squishee · 08/07/2017 16:17

In France Rémy / Rémi is a boys' name. Romy is a girls' name. I like it. But hey.
