Which spelling, does it matter? Thanks

I like it OP.
I would probably opt for the Remy spelling.
I think on paper it probably looks more gender neutral which might be advantageous?

It's a girls name.i know 2. Lovely name. Remy.

Onhold · 08/07/2017 16:22

Romy is awful. If you like Remi, then use it. I've never heard of Romy.

Weebo · 08/07/2017 16:26

I think Remi is lovely, who cares if it's a 'boys' name?

If my next baby is a girl I'm planning on calling her Rowan which is another name that gets flack on MN for being a boys name.

To me, Remi reads and sounds feminine anyway, so don't worry.

Remigius/Remy/ Remy has been used as a male name in several parts of Europe for approx 2000 years. It's the same sort of traditionally male name as Roderick or Roger. That's fact, not opinion.

But if people now think Remy (or Roderick or Roger, for that matter) sound feminine, then that's obviously up to them.

Rowan is different. It's a much more recent nature name, without traditional gender associations and widely used for both males and females.

Either way, it's a boy's name to me, so whichever you prefer!

buttercup54321 · 08/07/2017 19:27

Both remind me of indigestion medicine.

oeufdepaques · 08/07/2017 19:28

I know a female Remi in her 30s.
It suits her and I think it's a good name.

Fwiw my name is a relatively well known English name. I live in a French speaking country and almost always get addressed as Monsieur Surname because my name doesn't have an E on the end and the (very rare) French version does. So... I wouldn't worry about conceptions in other countries much.

Remy. Remi makes it look a bit more feminine but I like Remy a bit better.

I like Remy for a girl! If my DS was a girl I was thinking about naming her Remy bit people kept saying nooo that's a boys name, which is true it is predominantly male given but it's a tad ignorant and close minded. Go with whatever YOU choose OP it's your choice and no one else's xx

I taught a girl called Remmie. Out of the spellings you have given I prefer Remi.
