What about Xenia? It's a proper name, unlike Zen! Grin

zulo · 11/06/2017 23:27

i really personally dislike that name funnily enough! and Zen is a proper name just not very common!

I wouldn't, for a girl or a boy. Zen is slang for chilled, isn't it, and is somehow related to Buddhism? Just sounds odd, and strangely impersonal as a name.

buttercup54321 · 11/06/2017 23:39

Poor child!!

Sophronia · 11/06/2017 23:55

I know a Zennor, named after the Cornish village. I prefer that.

zulo · 11/06/2017 23:55

How about Sezen? Trying to find a name we like that fits our ethnicity is proving hard Sad

Zenia or Zena are nice too.

zulo · 11/06/2017 23:55

That is a turkish name btw

I quite like Zen, I've not heard it used as a name before but it's pretty.

IHateUncleJamie · 12/06/2017 00:06

I like Zen if it's short for Zenaida - never seen it as a standalone name.

Dixiestamp · 12/06/2017 00:16

I know a Ksenia (pronounced Zennia) but not a 'Zen'- it's unusual but I don't dislike it!

AfunaMbatata · 12/06/2017 00:22

Zen is a great namer! Always loved it!!!

AfunaMbatata · 12/06/2017 00:22

Alisvolatpropiis · 12/06/2017 00:24

To me zen = chilled out. It's an adjective rather than a verb.

What ethnicity are you? Are there other names on list?

zulo · 12/06/2017 00:31

We are turkish but would like a name easily pronounceable in Uk too and not too "out there"... and can't use the ones i like (eg Layla & Hazel) for family reasons so feeling very stuckSad

OP posts:
Buntysoven · 12/06/2017 00:45

I really like it.

Giraffey1 · 12/06/2017 00:49

Too many connotations with Buddhism and the book 'Zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance' for me!

avamiah · 12/06/2017 00:53

I like it a lot,it's very catchy and easy to remember which is always a good thing .
My daughter is Ava but if I had a boy I would of called him JET .
Great choice.

SuperBeagle · 12/06/2017 01:06

Too heavily associated with Buddhism.

Quodlibet · 12/06/2017 01:10

I like Sezen.
How about Ayla, or is that too similar to Layla?
There are some beautiful Turkish names which are not difficult in English...

avamiah · 12/06/2017 01:12

I like Ayla .

zulo · 12/06/2017 01:16

Ayla is very nice! thank you

avamiah · 12/06/2017 01:24

My friend is called Lativa and her daughter is Layla .
Beautiful names and they suit them very well.

ShmooBooMoo · 12/06/2017 01:26

How about Lyla (close to Layla but not the same)?
Also, Orla?
Aurelia?
Or something totally different, like Genevieve? can shorten to Genevie or Evie?

OlennasWimple · 12/06/2017 01:44

Sezen is lovely, Zen is not
