I think ZEN is a beautiful name .
We all have our own opinions.

Zazen · 12/06/2017 02:13

How about Kismet?

Zazen · 12/06/2017 02:16

Or.... Lydia?

Melisa is lovely as well.

Getoutofthatgarden · 12/06/2017 02:30

How do you go from Zen to Lydia?

Zazen · 12/06/2017 02:53

It's Turkish Getout..... Kismet is Turkish for 'Fate'. The OP wants something for her heritage. Lydia is Turkish .... it's the name of the ancient kingdom where Croesus came from.

Zen is Japanese..... I should know

Sezen is lovely, then you can use Zen as a nickname although it is not half as pretty. My favourite Turkish girl's name is Senay, the name of my childhood next door neighbour and probably the most beautiful girl 7 year old me had ever seen,

TheMysteriousJackelope · 12/06/2017 04:08

I like Sezen.

I like Zen too but I think people will think more of Zen = Chilled rather than Zen = Turkish heritage.

One of my DC's friends is named Sanaa (pronounced Zenaia) I think that is more African than Turkish though.

Zenobia?

Shadow666 · 12/06/2017 05:03

I know a boy called Zen but he's anything but. Totally hyper which makes me smile. That's always the risk with descriptive names.

florascotianew · 12/06/2017 09:11

I once met a very nice Turkish woman called Gulsen ( Ghyul-shen - I am sorry, I can't add the correct accents) - which means 'Rose Garden', I think. That has a similar 'en' sound to 'Zen' and would be a pretty name for a girl.

It can sometimes be difficult when well-recognised names from one region sound the same as words which have a different meaning in other parts of the world. For perhaps the majority of East Asian, American and European people, as previous posters have said, Zen refers to a way of following Buddhist teachings through meditiation, mindfulness, self-control and chanting sacred texts. For many English speakers, it's also become a shorthand way of saying 'chilled'.

Squishedstrawberry4 · 12/06/2017 09:14

Sezen is nice.

17caterpillars1mouse · 12/06/2017 10:10

It sounds like the name a teen would choose wanting to revel against her parents. I also imagine her to be a drug taker who doesn't want to work

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 12/06/2017 11:26

Zenya
Zenia
Zena
Zenna
Zenoushka
Zen would be a great Nick name.😄

I like Sezen. I don't dislike Zen but it would feel ironic every time she's having a tantrum!

UsaNayme · 15/06/2017 00:12

Sezen is nice, I like it. Zen would be a hard name to wear when she's a stroppy teenager

RuthB4 · 15/06/2017 04:23

Samira
Harika
Lamya

But Sezen is pretty too!

SerfTerf · 15/06/2017 04:48

It is VERY "out there" to my English ears.

SerfTerf · 15/06/2017 04:55

(A bit like a calling a child "hippy".)

caraway33 · 15/06/2017 04:56

Zelda?

caraway33 · 15/06/2017 04:57

i like Zen too btw! in japanese its a name for a boy though.

Inneedofadvice20172234 · 15/06/2017 05:04
