Julian - What do you think?

I have a sudden love of this name and feel quite inspired to use it.

I think it ticks lots of boxes - nice nick name with Jules, not too popular, not unheard of, easy to pronounce and has a nice musicality to it.

Downsides - is it perceived as a bit pompous?

Julian is pompous, to me. And really weak. As mumsnet users like to say, "it's a bit wet".

In a nutshell.

I loved Julian in the famous five! The nine year old Molly found him so manly...

Grin

I suppose he had a certain authoritative........I'm trying to think of a word other than 'charm'................

Mumchance · 07/06/2017 18:32

9 year old Molly had some peculiar tastes! Grin Mind you, I seem to remember having a brief crush on 'manly' baldie Bill Smugs at around the same age. Maybe it's an initial hormone surge or something. A year later I'd have told him to fuck off with his 'let's protect the girls' stuff, and his preference for clingy, wet Lucy-Ann over feisty, brother-bashing Dinah.

Actually, I fancied Bill Smugs too. Blush

I had a boyfriend called Julian once. Buff said.

LarrytheCucumber · 07/06/2017 20:47

Oh dear, Nuff said.

Nobody mentioned Julian Assange.

autumnkate · 13/06/2017 16:15

I have to agree with the pp who said it sounded pompous. Not a fan.

Stef18 · 13/06/2017 17:39

I really don't like the name Julian. Very pompous sounding, and can't imagine saying it without a posh voice....'juuuulian'
