Me and my husband need to decide on a name for our daughter she is almost two weeks old and we havent decided

Shortlist
Gabrielle ( I love this too, we are living in a hispanic/latin country so quite fitting although she is likely to be called Gabriella)
Mary ( I really dislike this name but DH is adamant this must be one of her names, so either first or middle name)
Isabelle ( Indifferent)
Amara ( I love this name, just not sure if she looks like an Amara or if its too out there)

We need to decide on a first name and middle name

I love Amara, beautiful name.

Nonameyet1 · 30/05/2017 15:10

Amara Mary or Gabrielle Mary are both gorgeous!

Stonecirclegal · 30/05/2017 15:15

Amara is lovely 😊

CrispyBathTowel · 30/05/2017 15:16

I think Gabrielle/Gabriella Mary is nice.

Mummmy2017 · 30/05/2017 15:31

Isabelle Mary, i think is lovely, and you can call her Immy as a nickname...

Good luck, to both of you, the proud parents.

Moomins67 · 30/05/2017 15:32

Gabrielle Mary

Mary makes a good middle name, but I think Amara and Mary are too similar. Isabelle is quite popular at the moment.

MikeUniformMike · 30/05/2017 15:34

How about Maria as a middle name.

CherPat · 30/05/2017 15:54

Yes I agree Amara and Mary sound too similar, would love to just do either Gabrielle Amara or Amara Gabrielle

Gabrielle Amara Mary? She can have more than one middle name you know.

OSETmum · 30/05/2017 16:55

Gabrielle

CherPat · 30/05/2017 18:18

yes I suppose she could have more than one middle name, just dont want her name to be too long, my DS1 has two middle names, one from each side of the family.

I like Gabrielle or Amara but agree that Amara Mary is a bit too much the same

Gabrielle Mary
Amara Gabrielle Mary
Amara Maria

Rockaby · 30/05/2017 18:55

I think Amara Mary sounds nicer than Gabrielle Mary. Amara and Mary wouldn't sound all that similar in my accent or DH's (mine's Irish, his is SE England). It isn't pronounced a-mare-a is it? I know one who is definitely am-ah-ra.

CherPat · 30/05/2017 21:11

yes it is pronounced a-ma-rra. I have always loved this name, just having doubts, whether its a bit out there, plus the enforced middle name of mary.

OP posts:
CherPat · 30/05/2017 21:11

that should read a-ma-ra

Gabrielle Mary

Gabrielle and Gabriella are both beautiful. I like Mary too but since you don't it seems really unfair to have a name you dislike as your daughter's first name

Love Isobel (this spelling) as it's my daughter's middle name

Amara is my least favourite. I'm really not a fan.

If the only name you both love us Gabrielle then surely that's what she should be called

Abetes · 30/05/2017 21:16

I think that Amara Mary is too similar. If Mary is a deal breaker I wouldn't go for Amara.

Refilona · 30/05/2017 21:16

Amara Mary sound a little too alike imho, a little like a tongue twister! I am from a Latin country, would you not like to name your daughter a name that works there too? Like Isabel and Gabriela?

Loyly · 30/05/2017 21:16

Gabrielle

ScienceNut · 30/05/2017 21:44

Mary makes a good middle name, my mum, me and my daughter all have it as our middle name.

ScienceNut · 30/05/2017 21:44

Love Gabrielle Mary
