Which name... DPs favourite or mine?

So the names in question are:

Annie or Keira

It will definitely be one of these two and we won't be having a middle name. Spelling will be as written above and both sound equally good with our last name. Just looking for votes please. We both like each other's choice and would be happy with either but just struggling to call it.

We don't want to wait until her arrival to decide on a name either.

Thank you, appreciate your help.

What about KerryAnne

Dear god that's hideous.

Indeed it is.

Also I am not sure why people do this. The OP stated a choice of 2 names Confused

OP I actually like them both. DD1 was almost Keira but we opted for something different. DD2 has Annie as a middle name.

Probably swaying towards Annie I'm afraid

Annie.

I know you don't want to wait until she is born, but if you did, Keira would be particularly suitable for a dark haired child as it means dark or swarthy. My own DC who has a similar name and was a very dark baby, had the cheek to turn into a blond toddler but has eventually gone dark again as a teenager.

Annie would be same meaning as Anne which is grace. :)

WhyOhWine · 15/05/2017 20:10

I wanted Annie for DD2. DH did too but regarded it as a nn and is of the school of thought that you need a full name for the birth certificate and we couldn't agree on one. So we went with our other choice although I do still love the name (and it is DD2's best friend's name).

Crikeyblimey · 15/05/2017 20:13

Annie - it was my grandmother's name.

WankersHacksandThieves · 15/05/2017 20:17

Kerry also means dark though :o

Regarding all the comments about Annie being a nickname, I do really understand this thinking. Could someone with the name Annie, not shorten it to Ann (for example) on CVs etc, and just in general life, if they weren't too happy with it? You'd only have to put Annie on anything very official.

In all liklihood, they'd be happy enough with their name. I don't know many people who truly hate their name. At least with Annie, there are options to shorten. I just don't really love Ann as a name, it sounds old and dated to me. Annie was my husband's great aunt's name (whom he was very close with).

Annie. Keira reminds me of horrible child at DS's playgroup who used to go around hitting all the little kids.

You can also sing "Annie's Song" to her, while you're gazing into her newborn eyes and are slightly teary. [nostalgia emoticon]

Futurama · 15/05/2017 20:36

Kiera!

Annie sounds overly cute and posh to me. Keira is uncommon and lovely :)

WankersHacksandThieves · 15/05/2017 20:44

If you want a longer Ann name, how about:

Annalise
Annalisa
Anais
Anastasia
Anya
Rhiannon
Marianne
Georgianne
Rosanna
Arianna
