Recently I have come across this name and was wondering if people generally like or dislike it? I think it used to be a bit more common but not too sure...

"So the phrase low brow isn't liked. Ok. We need a new phrase. That's chavvy where I live"

There was a thread recently where MNHQ posted, telling people that chavvy isn't a great word to use. I was wondering if everyone on here waa now saying 'low brow' as it's somehow better than using the word chavvy. The thing is, it doesn't matter which word you use, assigning a name a social class, (if that's what people are doing), and then saying that's why you'd avoid using the name is just snobby.

Anyway, low brow doesn't really make sense to me. What the devil is a high brow name? Little baby Proust? Sartre? Grin

Well this has turned into quite a debate haha! I think a name doesn't really mean much in terms of "low brow" or "chavvy", it's all about the child/person if they are polite, lovely and so on i doubt they will come across as someone who could go on the Jeremy Kyle show!

i still really like the name. Other choice is Violet which is a bit unoriginal actually seeing as i see it on here all the time :(

Summer is nicer than Violet imo. Violet is very popular. And it sounds like violent...

Ha ha we went with Violet for DD2 in the end, with Summer a close second choice! We've obviously got very similar (awesome) taste in names OP Smile

I know two. Both fostered by a friend of mine at the same time (not related obviously!). Big Summer and Baby Summer. Bit confusing it was.

emilybrontescorset · 13/05/2017 12:19

I don't like it.

idontknow6 · 13/05/2017 12:28

Murine that's so crazy haha! i keep changing my mind as to which one i prefer!

I think I slightly prefer Violet as I love letty as a nn and can't think of a nice nn for Summer. Mind you, the only Violet I know gets Vi (rhymes with buy), not letty.

bump!
