Kirrily's Sister

Our daughter's name is Kirrily Diana. It's an old Australian name that we found in my family tree. I think it's absolutely gorgeous and we both love it so, so much. Now, Diana was a name we considered for Kirrily's first name but we didn't like the nickname Di, so it became her middle name.
Now, we are expecting a daughter. We like the names, Aviva, Aurelia and Aurora. Aurora's my middle name so there's a nice link but DH doesn't love it. Kirrily and Aurelia is a little hard to say. Not everybody likes Aviva. I think it's beautiful though. What would you choose?

There are so many auroras around here it's almost becoming a bit tacky,

Not keen on Adelaide, Adeline, etc either. They make me think 'adenoids'..

If you like melodic, vowel-rich names, how about Eulalia? Ophelia? Ariana? Ianthe?

I like Aurelia best from your list and Kirrily is great!

I have a friend called aviva, I would be fibbing if I didn't Initially think of the car insurance as it's an unusual name but really dont think it matters at all! She's juts aviva to me it's a beautiful name

DissonantInterval · 29/04/2017 08:43

I really like Aviva. It's Hebrew.

Love Aurora (Rori for short )
Like Aurelia too. It sounds like your heart is set on Aviva and I'd not let an insurance company link in the UK put you off. I doubt other kids would think of it. Dd's friend has a girl called Isa (name of a UK financial product). It's still a lovely name though and has no doubt been around a lot longer than the financial product).

Aviva is grim and I say that as an Australian transplant to the UK. It's harsh and clinical to the ear, it sounds like a trial for a cholesterol drug.

There was a Kirrily at school with me and her sister was called Genevieve.

Sydney would also go nicely with Kirrily and keep the Aussie theme going.

Aviva Leonie entered this world today to the excitement of her big sister Kirrily. I know a lot of you disliked Aviva but it's what we loved.
Vivi and Kirri are very excited to meet each other!

Awwwww, congratulations!!!!

Vivi was what I wanted to shorten my daughter's name ( Octavia) to. She ended up being known by something completely different not related to her name at all!!

Gorgeous name OP!

Ditsy1980 · 29/04/2017 13:20

Ahhhh, massive congratulations on Aviva Leonie's safe arrival! Xx

harderandharder2breathe · 29/04/2017 13:23

Congratulations! I'm glad you picked a name you love

DissonantInterval · 29/04/2017 14:04

Congratulations on little Aviva Leonie. It's a really lovely, positive sounding name.

regularbutpanickingabit · 29/04/2017 19:57
