How do you pronounce Violet?

I can't pronounce it Vi-o-let without sounding like I'm from Cornwall?

I say it as Vi-let (2 syllables) and wondered if that was an acceptable pronunciation?

And viola would be 'vy-oh-la'.

Viola is vee-OH-la (I used to play one!)

I definitely pronounce Violet with 3 syllables but the middle one is very short and is a schwa sound as others have said (like the A at the end of Emma etc). Mind you I also pronounce my own real name with 3 syllables (as did my parents) and a lot of people pronounce it with 2.

yup with a schwa in violet and violin, but with a stressed O in viola.

Vai-o-let, The stress is on the "Vai'; then the 'o' in the middle is very short, almost 'uh', but it is there.
