Emer Lily- Opinions?

I think we've just about settled on Emer Lily (pronounced EE-mer). We've gone back and forth with Orla and Emer but we've taken the plunge and decided Emer's probably the best. What do you think of Emer Lily?

Our other children are Killian Joshua, Aoife Rose, Aislinn Juliet, Ruairi Benjamin and Lachlan Isaac. Does her name go well with theirs?
General opinions would be much appreciated.
Thank you Smile

Love the name and love the look of it written Emer but think Eimear (or whatever the other spelling!) is better for non- Irish people to pronounce.

Thats a bit garbled! What I mean is if i saw Emer i would say emmer but if i saw Eimaer I would say Eemar!

As someone who has met an Emer (lovely name choice by the way), I can confirm that it does sound nothing like Emma, even when slightly mangled by English people! I mean, yes, they're similar, but not as much as they look.

Well I'd fall over "ee mer" and "ee faa" when saying them together but I have a Welsh accent not an Irish one

whosahappyharry · 20/04/2017 15:25

Beautiful. I like the Eimear spelling more, but that's just personal preference. I'm in NI and you'd have no problem with pronunciation or spelling here or in ROI. Congratulations Flowers

Much prefer the Eimear spelling. Lovely names though

mathanxiety · 21/04/2017 04:49

I love the name but would use the Eimear spelling. I don't know why, however - just a personal preference.

Emer Lily is lovely.
Love your other children's names too, and imo Emer fits right in.

Congratulations!

I love your names.

I think you sound pretty firmly happy with them.

If anything I think Aoife and Emer are a little too similar so I would consider another quite different sounding name..
Do you like Orla Maeve?
My cousin is Irish and her name is sweet - Jane Lily.
