I thought Quim as well!

Sorry I'd just laugh - but then DD is nn Fanny (we aren't in Scotland)

Queensparkles · 18/04/2017 22:42

It's just crazy to me, quim doesn't even sound like a girl part word to me lol but yeah in Scotland fanny is, I don't even like writing that or saying it it sounds awful Blush but where you are if it doesn't mean that then it's all good lol

Fanny is still rude - just not crude like Scotland

SuperBeagle · 18/04/2017 22:46

Fanny is certainly more recognised as a vagina (or a butt, if you're in the US) than quim is. A Fanny would be laughed at where I live, but I doubt even the oldies have heard of quim here.

Queensparkles · 18/04/2017 22:51

It's not the crudest in Scotland there's far worse, fanny is pretty tame to be fair just makes me cringe Blush

How dreadful that you hadn't even heard of Chaucer, let alone studied any. Goodness what a Philistine you are OP. No wonder you want to call your child a genital. Wink

I would never use the word Quim for fanny, but I my mum used to say it all the time so I thought it straight away 🙈

CuppaTeaTeddy · 18/04/2017 22:57

@pepperpot99 FUCKING HELL 😂😂😂

pepperpot99 · 18/04/2017 22:58

No I wouldn't recommend that name Cuppa Grin

CuppaTeaTeddy · 18/04/2017 22:59

😂😂😂

You've gave your opinion which is fine but there's no need to be rude, picking a baby name is meant to be fun & that's why we come on here to discuss ideas etc, not to have someone suggest I name my child 'cunt'. What the hell is wrong with you

QueenCassiopeia · 19/04/2017 17:48

My daughter is called Quinn OP, I only heard of the 'quim' thing on this site- its stupid and I would totally ignore it Smile her name always reminds me of sequins x

ShowOfHands · 19/04/2017 19:09

If your children grows up liking the Avengers films, it's Loki who uses the phrase "mewling quim". So literary buffs and Avengers fans will get the quim reference.

My Scottish friend definitely uses the word quim.

My (male) dog is called Quinn, and I know another dog around here who is also called Quinn so it's not a name I really see for a human. In saying that though, I do obviously like the name since I chose it for my pet.

I studied literature at university and think the quim association is pretty stupid tbh, it's not something I have ever had come up in conversation in all the time I've owned my dog.

AuntieStella · 20/04/2017 18:38

It wouldn't be mentioned. That does not mean it would not be thought.

So yes, you might well only see people say it on sites such as MN, where people do say what they really think.

I wouldn't make a vagina comment if introduced to a baby Quinn, any more than I would in greeting a Fanny.

DappledThings · 20/04/2017 19:24

I refused to consider a Quinny buggy because to me I might as well be wheeling a pushchair with "Cunt" on the side of it so I'd make the same association with it as a name!

NicoleC1990 · 21/04/2017 12:51

If you don't think it would be mentioned, you certainly don't know my family! They would never have resisted the urge to mention the association if they thought of it. But no one did.

Jeez some of these comments 🙄🙄🙄
