Leia is great.

UsedToBeAPaxmanFan · 12/04/2017 06:35

Leah isn't pronounced Lee, it's pronounced Leer

Leia is pronounced like the SW character - Lay-ah

pilates · 12/04/2017 06:37

Eva

honeylou42 · 12/04/2017 06:41

Laia Smile

Yika · 12/04/2017 06:56

Leia. V cool.

WowserBowser · 12/04/2017 08:14

Leia.

Not sure why people keep suggesting Leah like it's the same name.

narroweddownto2 · 12/04/2017 09:02

Thanks for all the input Smile

The biggest comment against Eva seems to be its popularity, which I don't mind as we live in an area with very few (OH is a teacher and has only heard of 1), so perhaps in other parts of the country they are more rife.

Also thanks for the suggested alternatives and spellings for Leia. I do still prefer the spelling Leia I think. I'm not too fussed about others struggling to spell/pronounce as even simple names sometime need clarification on spelling (e.g. ashley? ashleigh? ashlee?).

I think from the voting Leia is pulling away a little....

I love Leia/Leah. However you spell it or want it to be pronounced you will find people get it wrong. If you want it said as in Princess Leia, I reckon you'll still get people saying Leah (Leer). If you want it pronounced as Leah (Leer) you'll get some people think it's as in the Star Wars way. I'd not let it put you off though.

dotdotdotmustdash · 13/04/2017 22:23

Leah isn't pronounce Leer! It's pronounced Lee-Ah.

I have one of 18 and I have no regrets.

AliceKlar · 14/04/2017 00:04

Sorry dottodot that's how I was trying to write it phonetically but it didn't work, obviously. I have a DGD Leah (Lee-ah :) ) so apart from DDs name it's my second favourite name in the world.

emilybrontescorset · 14/04/2017 08:52

Eva.

Dixiestamp · 15/04/2017 00:20

Leia was our 2nd choice, but we went with Lara (although she sometimes calls herself Leia-Lara!!). If we'd ever had another it would have been Leia- love it!

PointlessUsername · 15/04/2017 00:25

Leia is much nicer than Eva imo.

ew1990 · 15/04/2017 00:28

@narroweddownto2 my little sister is called leia I think it's a lovely name x

itsbetterthanabox · 15/04/2017 00:31

Leia

Joeybee · 15/04/2017 03:00

Eva

Greylilypad · 15/04/2017 07:43

Bigchris - Ava is actually more common that Eva, it's in the top ten most used names in the U.K.

Personally don't like Leia at all.

user1459464195 · 15/04/2017 19:50

I prefer Leia. Every other girl child I meet under the age of 5 is named Eva (EE-va, Ever or AY-va) and that level of popularity dulls the name for me quite a bit (although it is pretty).

Imaginingdragonsagain · 15/04/2017 19:51

Leia

Rockaby · 15/04/2017 20:13

Leia by a smidgen. Both nice though.

moonlightmile · 23/04/2017 10:58

definitely Leia!

KingPrawnOkay · 23/04/2017 11:01

Lots of Evas around, I like unusual names and wouldn't be happy giving my child an overly-popular name. Leia is lovely! As long as you don't mind everyone asking if you're a Star Wars fan Wink

TakeASipOfDancingJuice · 23/04/2017 11:05

Leia. With Rey/Rae as a middle name for extra Star Wars points Smile
