Would you find this odd? does anyone know any girls named Cooper? we know of boys named this.

Its a family name and we'd like to include it somehow but don't know if its a bit too 'out there' to name a little girl it?

Yes I think it's odd - it's not a girl's name - can't it be a middle name?

Loyly · 04/04/2017 12:46

I would find it odd, yes.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 04/04/2017 12:46

Odd

Floggingmolly · 04/04/2017 12:47

Extremely odd.

CauliflowerSqueeze · 04/04/2017 12:48

Odd. Means someone who barrels beer doesn't it?

celtiethree · 04/04/2017 12:48

I wouldn't find it odd, more and more names are becoming unisex. No different/odder than Cameron to me.

cookielove · 04/04/2017 12:49

I like it! I have a cousin called Cooper

MitsyLeFrouf · 04/04/2017 13:09

Fine if used as a middle name as I'd assume it was a family surname. Not good at all for a girl's first name.

MrsMeeseeks · 04/04/2017 13:10

Awful. It's a surname. It rhymes with Pooper. There is so much wrong with it.

mouldycheesefan · 04/04/2017 13:14

Yes it means barrel maker.
It's a surname. I don't like it being used for a boy forename let alone a girl!
Pooper cooper.
Avoid!
Also avoid thatcher, fletcher and other trade surnames as first names.

WhiteHairReally · 04/04/2017 13:21

Isn't there a little girl called Cooper, amongst others, commenting cutely on a Sony Walkman, doing the rounds on FB at the moment? I haven't stopped to listen, just assumed she was American.

MitsyLeFrouf · 04/04/2017 13:26

I don't mind a trade surname as first name on a boy. I even think Fletch/Fletcher sounds quite cool. Thatcher obviously is bit more of a statement, and not a statement I'd be eager to make.

JulesJules · 04/04/2017 13:28

Ok as a middle name. Not otherwise imo

Enidblyton1 · 04/04/2017 13:30

I only know 1 Cooper, who is a boy. But I wouldn't find it odd for a girl.
Tbh, I think I prefer it for a girl - I would imagine a sassy Californian girl!! Not keen on it at all for a boy.

BikeRunSki · 04/04/2017 13:30

It is however, an excellent surname. 😄

juneau · 04/04/2017 13:33

Very strange for a girl. Fine as a surname. Why would you want to call your DD 'barrel-maker'?

harderandharder2breathe · 04/04/2017 13:34

Ok as a middle name to honour someone, not as a first name for a girl

BasicBetty · 04/04/2017 13:35

Would be ok as a middle name, but not a first name....

SleepFreeZone · 04/04/2017 13:36

I know a Cooper who is a boy and he is gorgeous.

crocodarl · 04/04/2017 13:39

I like it for a girl. I like boys' names used on girls, sounds strong. But maybe with another more typical girls' name in case she doesn't agree when she gets older?

sonlypuppyfat · 04/04/2017 13:41

It's bloody awful what are you thinking

MitzyLeFrouf · 04/04/2017 13:41

I think it would be a bit like calling a girl Bruce. Going out of the way to sound as masculine as possible. Which would be strange.

Heatherbell1978 · 04/04/2017 13:41

Not a first name, no. Sorry it's a boys name. I know it's trendy for names to be unisex but I can't imagine anyone wants to go through life with people constantly thinking they're the opposite sex.

BeanSprout79 · 04/04/2017 13:44

I like it.

BertrandRussell · 04/04/2017 13:44

It's a pretty horrid first name for a boy- awful for a girl. Use it as a second name.
