..... for a boy.

No

esiotrot2015 · 18/03/2017 14:14

Love it

Thatextrainch · 18/03/2017 14:14

It's no different to Alfie, Arthur, Henry etc imo

MarcelineQueen · 18/03/2017 14:14

No unless you're a tank engine or really posh, then fine

SelfObsessionHoney · 18/03/2017 14:14

He's a bit of a knob in Harry Potter.

sparechange · 18/03/2017 14:15

I know 2 Percys

One is a dog and one is a cat

Orangedaisy · 18/03/2017 14:15

Love it too.

SpikeGilesSandwich · 18/03/2017 14:16

I think it's fine. The Percy Jackson series of books and films is pretty popular, I'm surprised there aren't more little Percys.

Cosmicglitterpug · 18/03/2017 14:17

I had this on the list for DD2. I asked a few friends what they thought of it. Someone said it put her in mind of a lisping mummy's boy with receding hair. I must admit it put me off.

PuppyMonkey · 18/03/2017 14:17

As a Corrie fan, I will always say it :"ooh, Percy!" In a Phyllis Pearce deep voice Grin

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 18/03/2017 14:17

Dislike it. A weak name.

memyselfandaye · 18/03/2017 14:18

Will he be comfortable being called that when he's a teenager?

Awful imo.

Twoevils · 18/03/2017 14:19

Can be slang for a penis ... so no ....

RustyBear · 18/03/2017 14:22

It's a penis' name.

'Just going to point Percy at the porcelain'

Not to mention the penis transplant films Percy & Percy's Progress...

acatcalledjohn · 18/03/2017 14:23

I instantly think of the M&S Percy Pig sweets.

FoofFighter · 18/03/2017 14:25

I know someone who's grandson aged around 5/6 is called Percy.

I don't like it personally because it feels like a name for a feeble weak man.

Ontopofthesunset · 18/03/2017 14:27

It seems like a sort of jokey posh twit name. I don't like the sound (makes me think of pursed lips, so a bit sneery). And it means penis: 'pointing Percy at the porcelain".

watchingitallagain · 18/03/2017 14:42

I had never heard of pointing Percy at the porcelain! Oh dear me. I wonder where the idea that it sounds weak comes from?

It's on my radar because our baby is due on the birthday of my favourite poet, Percy Bysshe Shelley. He wasn't a weak man.

Thanks for all of your feedback. This is baby number three and I always opt for names that polarise people. It's good to know about the penis connection! Blush I was expecting to get trains or maybe even Blackadder references, but not todgers.

I lolled at your "for a boy" comment. I wouldn't like it much on a girl.

Imnotacelebgetmeouttahere · 18/03/2017 15:15

I know a Percy! It suits him innnensely - he's a cheeky and gorgeous little fella Smile

Imnotacelebgetmeouttahere · 18/03/2017 15:16

Immensely Blush

peaceloveandbiscuits · 18/03/2017 15:17

Ditto imaceleb Smile

peaceloveandbiscuits · 18/03/2017 15:17

Imnotaceleb Blush

BastardBernie · 18/03/2017 15:18

Such a good classic name

VintagePerfumista · 18/03/2017 15:22

It's awful.

One of the absolute worst.

He'd have a lifetime of people teasing him.
