I'm not allowed Maud or Dorothy.

What names do you love that your partner (or mum etc) wouldn't go for?

Lev / Leonard. Jacob. How we're supposed to find a Russian Jewish name that also works in south London is beyond me at this point. He had better be a she.

Nicae · 27/02/2017 21:25

DH vetoed Cary as in Grant - still think it would have been a great name but we've got two DDs so pretty irrelevant really!

SuperBeagle · 27/02/2017 21:28

I vetoed Jessica - I had hyperemisis and all I could hear was the word "sick" in the middle.

The "sick" part is what I hate about Jessica too. Have no issue with just Jessie, for example!

Oscha · 27/02/2017 21:33

I wanted Hugo or Rupert but DH vetoed them both.

pho3be · 27/02/2017 21:36

Alice , Tessa & Nancy were all a no from exh Sad
He wanted poppy which i said no to because it seemed like every other child at that time was called poppy

Quodlibet · 27/02/2017 21:41

I vetoed Cooper. We have a double barrelled surname and their full name would have just sounded like a list of surnames, like someone calling the register.

AllFurCoatNoKnickera · 27/02/2017 21:41

DH vetoed most of my boy names.
Xavier
Sebastian
Rory
Max
Leo
Samuel

And we jointly vetoed family tradition of naming our first born boy after his paternal grandfather, just couldn't imagine a baby with such a grown up name.

Samatamfabahaba · 27/02/2017 21:42

He vetoed Belle and Bella, Phoebe and Lily. He's a right git sometimes.

I vetoed Siobhan and Keira and loads of others that I think he was just trying his luck with. Can't remember them though obviously, absolute baby brain.

Samatamfabahaba · 27/02/2017 21:43

We don't know what we're having either, but EVERYONE seems to think it's a girl so we're kinda concentrating on girls names which could backfire!!

mum2be2boys · 27/02/2017 23:05

Hubby vetoed my suggestions of Dominic and Sophie.

I vetoed his suggestions of Zebedee (he really wanted to use the nickname Zeb!) and Naomi.

MaroonPencil · 27/02/2017 23:10

DH vetoed Edward and Samuel, of all names. It's not like they are particularly out there. I vetoed Andrew. I just wasn't feeling it. And Prentice. I mean, what?

SpaceDinosaur · 27/02/2017 23:12

DH veto'd Harmony and Rupert.

I veto'd floral names and anything from the top 100 as I teach and would be seeing far to many of them!!!

mikado1 · 27/02/2017 23:19

I liked:
Milo
Ethan
Clement (would really suit our ds1 too!)
Eoghan
Darragh

I vetoed:
Charlie - too cute

mikado1 · 27/02/2017 23:21

Nicae you've reminded me, I liked Cary too! I was watching the Good Wife at the time!

MommaGee · 27/02/2017 23:29

He vetoed Lillith (ok so she's mother of all demons, so what!), Gideon, Iziah, Ezekiel

I vetoed Septimus

mikado1 · 27/02/2017 23:32

Lillith... you obviously didn't watch Frasier! (Yes I have a lot of US Tv associations for names! Grin(

Sophronia · 27/02/2017 23:36

DH has vetoed...

Susannah
Louisa
Miriam
Martha
Esther
Agnes
Rosamund
Rosa
Cecilia
Genevieve
Jemima
Kezia
Matilda
Marina
Tabitha
Vivien

Luckily we have similar taste in boys names!

Buntysoven · 28/02/2017 00:07

Mine vetoed Lois due to Superman and Family Guy and I vetoed Morven which reminded me of mourning for some reason. We fought hard over boys names and then my dad died and OH said that my dad's real first name (which he didn't use) was cool so that was it. He also initially vetoed the name we gave our dd!

MommaGee · 28/02/2017 01:34

mikado I have occasionally but I'm a big supernatural fan hence the lillith origin haha

KeyserSophie · 28/02/2017 01:41

He vetoed Jean-baptiste, Reuben and Astrid.

I think he was probably right re Jean Baptiste as we are (1) not French and (2) atheists.

pinkish · 28/02/2017 13:17

DH vetoed Freya, Kezia, Susannah, Clementine

I vetoed Tamara, Lara, Martha, Sarah, Mary

Actually think his names were loads nicer than mine, none of which I like any more apart from Susannah, which (annoyingly) he now really likes!

stuckinthehouse · 28/02/2017 19:48

DH vetoed Cuthbert
I vetoed Horatio

agnes158 · 28/02/2017 20:10

he vetoed Greta :( still sad about it! i vetoed Branwen but actually it's grown on me now! (boyfriend is welsh and it sounds much nicer in a welsh accent)

Metalhead · 01/03/2017 14:20

I tried very hard to get DH on board with Lina, but he was having none of it. Still think it would have suited DD2 really well...

AbernathysFringe · 01/03/2017 23:19

Tempest (too odd)
Robyn (don't know why)
Faye (he dated one)
Edie (he said it made him think EDF energy, the idiot)
Flora (made him think of butter, sigh)
