LB due. Second child. Struggling with boys name. First child has an unusual name. I love Iggy but am wondering what it could be short for;aside from Ignatius (which I don't hate but DH does). Cheers!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I've heard someone called Eugene being NN'd Iggy.

PhilMitchellsBeard · 19/02/2017 10:33

Ignatius

KoalaDownUnder · 19/02/2017 10:33

Igor?

WellieWanger · 19/02/2017 10:35

Thanks. Yeah I like Ignatius but like I say, DH doesn't.
Igor I'm not too keen on but thanks.
Eugene is quite cute

Inigo?

AllTheLight · 19/02/2017 10:37

I used to know an Iggy many years ago. I seem to remember that it was short for Piers!!

WellieWanger · 19/02/2017 10:46

Inigo was greeted with a puzzled look from DH. 😁 Excellent! Can see the link to Piers Hmm
Finding this very tricky. Seems I don't like boys names much.

Okay, it's a massive stretch, but - Finnigan?

Anatidae · 19/02/2017 10:47

Isaac is the one I know.

KoalaDownUnder · 19/02/2017 10:47

Then you could have Finn or Iggy.

HappyAxolotl · 19/02/2017 10:48

Iggy Pop's mum calls him James!

Whatslovegottodo · 19/02/2017 10:48

Finnigan??

Whatslovegottodo · 19/02/2017 10:48

Oo cross posts koala. Must be a legit idea!

daisypond · 19/02/2017 10:49

Sigmund.
Siegfried.
Igor.
Finnigan.
Inigo.
Diggory.
Initials - I.G, so Isaac George, etc... ?

KoalaDownUnder · 19/02/2017 10:49

Grin👍

CatOnAWarmTinRoof · 19/02/2017 10:50

Why bother with a full name?
Just put Iggy on the birth certificate
and your son will change it when he's old enough

WellieWanger · 19/02/2017 10:52

I didn't even think of Iggy Pop-duh haha!
I like Isaac but I feel it doesn't fit with our DDs name. She is Luna. Same with Finnigan but DH is Irish so could be a possibility

AllTheLight · 19/02/2017 10:57

Ooh I like the idea of I.G. initials!

Idris or Ivan for the I?

WellieWanger · 19/02/2017 10:57

Haha that's why Catonawarmtinroof.
If he doesn't like it, we don't want him to feel lumbered with it. He will also probably have a more conventional middle name so he could use that if he wanted. It's what we did with DD.
That said, I hated my name as a kid. But love it now.
Diggory is quite cute.....isn't there a Diggory Dog in some show?
I feel as though I will never come up with a name for this kid. But surely I can't just keep calling him 'baby' until he is an adult ha?!
The other name I liked that DH doesnt mind was Caleb. Obviously not to then be called Iggy.

Idris was on my list. DH poo pooed it. Noticing a theme? Perhaps I should just not ask DHs opinion?

Itzik? Isambard? 😜

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 19/02/2017 11:03

How about DIGBY.

KoalaDownUnder · 19/02/2017 11:05

Ooh, I just came back to say Digby. I love it!!

SleepFreeZone · 19/02/2017 11:07

How about Dougie as a stand alone name? It has the slightly cheeky Iggy sound to it but you wouldn't need to find a full version name for it.

It was on our list but we went with Toby (Tobias) in the end.

Cantgetmyoldnameback · 19/02/2017 11:08

Anyone else that's as old as me remembering Digby the Biggest Dog in the World?
