I'm not keen on either, but if you like them that's all that matters. I love Maddox and Theo though.

SloanePeterson · 02/12/2016 19:17

Thank you! I do have other girls names picked out but a lot of people I know are having ️babys and seem to be using them haha :(

Sloane is like Portia IMO, neither are pretty or pleasing to the ear.

I like Maddox and TheoGrin

PoldarksBreeches · 02/12/2016 19:21

ispymincepie · 02/12/2016 19:22

Strokethefurrywall · 02/12/2016 19:23

As are yours Pugsymalone, as are yours!

Do you have similar taste in boys names? I have 2 boys so didn't get a chance to use the girls names.

MuseumOfCurry · 02/12/2016 19:25

Have you been reading the Official Preppy Handbook? They sound pretty contrived.

Pugsymalone · 02/12/2016 19:28

MuseumOfCurry im from Dublin so I couldn't tell you what preppy means im assuming it's an insult though and no i haven't read any handbooks lately 👋im off to google what contrived means

Please don't call your daughter Sloane or Blair...

lizzieoak · 02/12/2016 19:29

People are naming babies Sloane? No, don't like. Nor Blair, it sounds very 1980's to me.

I like Oscar, Theo, Sydney, & Piper though.

zen1 · 02/12/2016 19:30

Where I live, Sloane is frequently used as described here en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sloane_Ranger, so I wouldn't personally use it.

Pugsymalone · 02/12/2016 19:31

Zen1 ive never heard of that! Probably because im in Ireland , strange is it a regularly used insult or a thing of the past?

OP posts:
DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 02/12/2016 19:34

Zen- yes, exactly!

IJustWantABrew · 02/12/2016 19:36

Blair... I immediately thought tony Confused. I like piper for a girl. What about something like Parker or Jenson for a boy.

MollyHuaCha · 02/12/2016 19:36

Hmm... unusual names. I'm assuming that if you post on MN, you are happy to get polite replies saying people either like or dislike your possible choices. Out of interest, I googled your first two.

Sloane - short for Sloane Ranger - stereotypical fashionable people around Sloane Sq in London with too much money and not a lot of common sense.

Blair - Google is giving me Tony/Cherie Blair and the Blair Witch Project.

These names are interesting, but ensure your child has a life of tediously having to repeat and spell their name and explain that it's a first name, not a last name.

Theo is nice. I like that one. Have fun deciding. Smile

BratFarrarsPony · 02/12/2016 19:38

Pugsy have you really really never heard of Sloane Ranger?
Princess Di was the ultimate Sloane.

SuperPug · 02/12/2016 19:38

Sloane makes me think of Ferris Bueller's Day Off, which is a good thing Smile
Also like Theo. What about Rhiannon as you've suggested Rian?

MuseumOfCurry · 02/12/2016 19:39

Preppy is derived from 'prep' as in school.

It means a clean and wholesome look e.g. Ralph Lauren or J.Crew but it's also a throwback to the 80s when The Official Preppy Handbook was published, Blair featured in the Facts of Life and Sloane, Ferris Bueller's Day Off.
