Erm.
I don't like any of those.
I do live in England, and only speak English, but am in a fairly multicultural part of the country so used to names that sound unusual to my ears. However, you've listed a type of knife, a type of knitting, and a French girls name there....... Not sure why you'd want to call a boy any of those.

Pidlan · 28/11/2016 00:08

Bowie is the best of a bad bunch, I'm afraid.

JosephineMaynard · 28/11/2016 00:11

I would assume an Anais was a girl, I've only ever seen that used for girls.

Sierra259 · 28/11/2016 00:12

Isn't Anais a girl's name?

I'm afraid I don't like any of the first names either. Eoghan and William are nice.

Ironriver · 28/11/2016 00:17

Please use William... Bowie is better than the other first names though!

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 28/11/2016 00:41

Bowie is nice. Are/were you a David Bowie fan.
Argyle. No. Its awful
Anais. Very very feminine. There's even a perfume named Anais Anais.

ChocoChou · 28/11/2016 00:51

Anaïs is à french girls name, please don't use for a boy.

eatingforonemore · 28/11/2016 01:12

We are a Scottish family which is why we chose more Scottish names.

I prefer the feminine spelling of Anais as the masculine gaelic is Aeneas and for some reason I'm not a fan of that spelling

OP posts:
HoratioNightboy · 28/11/2016 01:24

Sorry Op, Aeneas is a Latin name, not Gaelic. However it was sometimes used as a Latin "equivalent" of Angus (although not actually related) so would Angus be a possibility?

Or perhaps Anesius, the "proper" Latinised form of Angus?

I quite like Bowie and Argyle, although I prefer the Argyll spelling.

Sandsnake · 28/11/2016 01:31

I really like the middle names. Whatever you do though please don't use Anais - giving your son a name not dissimilar to 'anus' and then using the girls' version of it might give him a hard time at school.

CockneyViv · 28/11/2016 08:30

Anais is a girls name; not unisex. Please don't do that to your ds. Would you call a dd Andrew because you don't like the way Angela looks? Confused

PunkAssMoFo · 28/11/2016 09:06

There are lots of lovely Gaelic names, but I'm afraid those three aren't.

Pluto30 · 28/11/2016 09:11

Anais is a girl's name.

Argyle is a fugly pattern.

Bowie is fine, but it'll be assumed that you're Bowie fans and is "too soon" after his death, IMO.

pilates · 28/11/2016 09:25

Middle names ok, but dislike the first names

KittensWithSuperpowers · 28/11/2016 09:37

Angus? Gus for short?

Bowie if it has to be one of those.

KlingybunFistelvase · 28/11/2016 10:01

Of the three you've listed I'd go for argyle eoghan. Is eoghan pronounced the same as Euan? If so I prefer that as a first name if it's an option. Argyle is cool though.

raviolidreaming · 28/11/2016 10:46

Is eoghan pronounced the same as Euan?

Usually pronounced like Owen.

OP, like others have said, Anais is a French girls name - being Scottish has nothing to do with it!

Gruffalosfriend · 28/11/2016 11:39

Bowie and Argyle - good solid boys names. I too find Anaïs too feminine.

Sophronia · 28/11/2016 11:45

Anais is a French girls name. Not keen on the other two either. How about Aonghus or Eneas?

heateallthebuns · 28/11/2016 12:15

I only like eoghan and William sorry!

SpidersFromMars · 28/11/2016 12:18

I like "Eoghan William Argyle".

Ontopofthesunset · 28/11/2016 12:19

If you call him Argyle spelt like that people will assume you're big Plymouth Argyle fans. Bowie sounds as if you're calling him after the singer. And Anais is a girl's name. Eoghan is nice. And so is William.

Marcipex · 28/11/2016 15:04

Bowie.

Please please don't call a boy Anais.

GinIsIn · 28/11/2016 21:18

Anais is most definitely not a boy's name.

And argyle isn't a name at all, surely?

user1479495984 · 28/11/2016 21:28

Is Bowie a name!?
