Peter or Marcus

StreetFighter · 28/10/2016 23:08

I have never understood why anyone would call their child Mark. It is a synonym for 'stain', and sounds all guttural, like the nose a dog makes. I think it's horrible.

So, Peter Grin. Actually, I do rather like Peter.

StreetFighter · 28/10/2016 23:10

Would you consider Luke, btw? Seems of a type with your other two choices, and is far nicer imo.

SpunkyMummy · 28/10/2016 23:23

Peter

Very boring old fashioned names. I gave my son the name Mark 41 years ago. What was I thinking??? Of all the lovely boys names around I settled on Mark. He wasn't thrilled either and has given his own son a much nicer name.

golddustsparkler · 29/10/2016 00:11

CharminglyGawky · 29/10/2016 00:11

Peter, lovely traditional name which gets loads of hate for some reason Confused It's due a revival!

BeastofCraggyIsland · 29/10/2016 00:55

I have a 5yo Peter, never had a bad reaction to it. Never considered shortening it to Pete!

Sophronia · 29/10/2016 08:34

Love Peter

My2centsworth · 29/10/2016 08:36

Love Mark.

WingMirrorSpider · 29/10/2016 08:39

I like both but prefer Peter.

In the same vein I really love Michael and Andrew.

stonygreysoil · 29/10/2016 08:41

both great. If you have a one syllable second name, Peter might sound a bit nicer though.

Fewerofwhomithinkwell · 29/10/2016 08:44

Peter definitely. There's something about the name Mark that doesn't sound that pleasant.

Gaybeartastic · 29/10/2016 08:57

Mark. But then I would choose my own name 😀

Gaybeartastic · 29/10/2016 08:58

How so?

Gaybeartastic · 29/10/2016 09:01

I was referring to Mark not sounding that pleasant in my pp. I like my name at least it's short.

sleepyMe12 · 29/10/2016 09:03

I have a one year old called Peter never had a bad comment.

crje · 29/10/2016 09:04

Mark

Saci · 29/10/2016 09:05

I'm not keen on Mark too 80's. I love the name Marcus, Marc for short.
Sarah and Peter is timeless and classic.
