Ava, Edie or Bay for a girl?

Really struggling to choose our baby girl's name... DH and I like Ava, which is a top 10 name, Edie, a top 200 name and Bay which is a top 1000 name. So all quite different

I have never heard the name Bay and I am not keen. I prefer Ava from that list.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 12/09/2016 22:44

Oh I like Bay.

megletthesecond · 12/09/2016 22:44

Edie.

There's a lot of Ava and Eva's at the dc's school. Bay is nice, although possibly unisex. At least it would confuse me ( not hard).

ByAllMeansMoveAtAGlacialPace · 12/09/2016 22:49

Not Bay.

I hear and see on Instagram my teenage nieces using the word 'bae' every four seconds and it makes me cringe.

Love Edie. Ava is nice but a little over-used maybe?

puckercup · 12/09/2016 22:50

Ava

DramaAlpaca · 12/09/2016 22:51

Ava

FoxesSitOnBoxes · 12/09/2016 22:53

Not Bay. At all. Yes, I'd think you'd called her Bey and think you were very silly.
The others are lovely though!

ifcatscouldtalk · 12/09/2016 22:53

If i'd of had another child it would possibly of been an Ava. Love the name! I know it has grown in popularity by the polls but I don't know any. Maybe it depends where you live. I also like Edie. Not so sure about Bay. My guess is everyone votes bay because it's a bit different. Gd luck choosing. Smile.

AnnaMarlowe · 12/09/2016 22:54

Not Bay.

(Baywatch, eBay, Botany Bay - the annoying nickname opportunity is huge)

The other two are lovely.

PlymouthMaid1 · 12/09/2016 22:55

Rea!ly !ike Edie from that list. Not keen on Bay.

sonlypuppyfat · 12/09/2016 22:58

Bay?

RainbowDashian · 12/09/2016 23:02

Out of those ones definitely Edie.

katemess12 · 12/09/2016 23:02

Surely Bay is not a name? Hmm

Also, I second the "bae" thing.

I like Ava and Edie equally, but Edie is less popular, so I'd choose that.

Waterlemon · 12/09/2016 23:06

I have a niece called Bayley - I always thought if it as a boys name, and wasn't keen at first but it's actually very pretty now that she has "grown" into it. So I'm going against the grain in saying - I actually really like "Bay" it's just not a name I would personally choose.

I also love Ava, but it is very popular, maybe too popular. But I think Edie is my favourite if the three. I love very "old" names like Edie, Mabel, Florence, Martha etc.

Oysterbabe · 12/09/2016 23:12

Edie. Ava/Eva is crazy popular and rather bland IMO.

ifcatscouldtalk · 12/09/2016 23:47

Where are all the Ava's? (genuine question.) Does popularity of a name affect your choice OP? Also intrigued about teens usage of "bae". Whats that all about?! Feel so old!

JasonDerulo · 12/09/2016 23:56

I love Edie

SaigonSaigon · 13/09/2016 00:10

I absolutely love Bay. It is a unisex name, and nicely unusual. There's a female model called Bay Garnett which is where I first saw it. And Kirsty Allsop has a son with that name too.

Ava is everywhere. It's lovely but overused right now

Edie is a lovely choice too!

BertrandRussell · 13/09/2016 00:21

Bay as in bay tree?

AngharadTheSplendid · 13/09/2016 00:26

Not another Ava!

Bay is great. Edie is a bit 'of the moment' so may date.

Wispygypsy · 13/09/2016 00:29

Ava

PotatoBread · 13/09/2016 07:59

Absolutely not Bay. I'd think you were calling your child Bae if I heard you say the name. Awful.

I like Edie

i8E314 · 13/09/2016 08:01

I love Bay.

What is 'the bae thing'?

marmitecrumpets · 13/09/2016 08:06

Edie

i8E314 · 13/09/2016 08:08

Waht about Béa short for beatrice. sounds like Edie's sister (maybe)
