So at the minute most of the boys names I like are what I would typicall call 'old' names so favourites so far are Arthur and Stanley. I was just wondering if anyone could suggest any others which would work

There are some gems from the list of English Monarchs. Particularly in the house of Wessex.

Ælfweard
Æthelstan
Æthelred
Eadred
Eadwig

Or other older names:

Harold

😄😄😄

mollie123 · 31/08/2016 07:20

not sure if they can be called old-style but they are classic names and not over-used
John
David
Johnathan / Jonathan
Jeremy
Frank/Francis
Douglas
Philip
Steven/Stephen
they are not boring - before someone says that
Sometimes people try too hard to be trendy/unique and saddle a child with an 'out there' name Smile

KoalaDownUnder · 31/08/2016 07:25

I am sorry, but I can't see how David and Stephen can possibly be considered 'not overused'.

I am tripping over Daves and Steves everywhere I go...-admittedly they are not young children, but I still think those names are nowhere near ready for a revival!

Mclaren37 · 31/08/2016 23:22

Grinmollie123 John, Dave, Phil and Steve are obviously the most overused names in the country. They're not being used as baby names right now because everyone is heartily sick of them. This does not make them classics.
I think Douglas and Frank work nicely as old style boys names though, I love Frankie for a little boy.

I like Quinn and Finn
