My sons middle name is Alexander so yy

Reuben I would take or leave tbh

margaritasbythesea · 13/05/2016 19:21

Love Alexander

Dontrocktheboat · 13/05/2016 19:21

They are both nice, safe reasonably popular names. I prefer Reuben personally though would be a bit put off by popularity.

CodyKing · 13/05/2016 19:39

There's at lease 5 of each in DS year - fine if that's what you like -

GinnyMcGinFace · 13/05/2016 19:47

We have an Alexander. You can do much more with it in terms of choices for nicknames. Ours is AJ but he has two other friends who are also Alexander and one is known as Xander whilst the other is Alex. Reuben is kinda Reuben or Roo I suppose. Both lovely names though X

BoboBunnyH0p · 13/05/2016 20:48

Alexander gets my vote, it's my DS middle name and it only became his middle name because DH and I couldn't agree on nn.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 13/05/2016 20:49

Love Alexander

Dislike Reuben

Cocoabutton · 13/05/2016 21:14

Also prefer Alexander

Rowboat · 13/05/2016 21:23

I have an Alexander. I happen to think it's the best name!

Fueledwithfairydustandgin · 13/05/2016 21:30

Reuben always makes me say "you for scuba Reuben"

Alexander... So much nicer

LadyAntonella · 13/05/2016 21:44

I like both! Think I prefer Reuben slightly. I only know one of each among babies and young children.

vdbfamily · 13/05/2016 21:44

I love Reuben. My first son had to be a traditional family name so Reuben was lined up for 2nd son who never happened. My youngest daughter has promised me she will have a Reuben! But love Alexander too...my DH's name in fact.

applecatchers36 · 13/05/2016 21:46

Alexander

incognitofan · 13/05/2016 21:47

I love both, but theyre my nephews names so im biased!

Theyre really not overly popular here - one of each i think in my sons school of 320?

Sophronia · 13/05/2016 22:53

Both is nice but Reuben is very newly popular

julfin · 13/05/2016 23:52

Really like both (not helpful)

DramaAlpaca · 13/05/2016 23:54

I like both, with a slight preference for Reuben.

Alexander has more nickname options though.

Paddletonio · 14/05/2016 00:33

Like both but prefer Reuben

Mareseatoats · 14/05/2016 01:03

I prefer Alexander. I think it's more flexible; less prone to spelling errors and just a good classic name.

We know a lovely Reuben but it gets shortened to Reubs which of course sounds like boobs.

julfin · 14/05/2016 06:24

which of course sounds like boobs - ha that made me laugh!

It can also be shortened to Roo, which I think is adorable, like a baby kangaroo.

For Alexander, my favourite nn is Lexi which rhymes with sexy. I used to know a Lexi, and he was pretty sexy.

mrsnec · 14/05/2016 06:47

We had them both on our list. Alexander was the favourite really but we went with something else in the end. Would have shortened it to Sandy I think.

CPtart · 14/05/2016 06:53

Prefer Alexander,

septembersunshine · 14/05/2016 10:56

Alexander. So strong and classic. Timeless. Ruben is ok but I don't think it has the appeal of Alexander.
