You can also shorten Reuben to Ben. Very helpful when your 5 day old baby doesn't have a name because his father can't stand Roo for short......

Reuben is lovely, but then I have one so I'm biased. I've not met another one yet so I think it depends where you live. Alexander is a bit dull I think.

Not fussed on either - both over used round these parts.

Alexander. So strong and classic. Timeless. Ruben is ok but I don't think it has the appeal of Alexander.

Prefer Alexander,

We had them both on our list. Alexander was the favourite really but we went with something else in the end. Would have shortened it to Sandy I think.

which of course sounds like boobs - ha that made me laugh!

It can also be shortened to Roo, which I think is adorable, like a baby kangaroo.

For Alexander, my favourite nn is Lexi which rhymes with sexy. I used to know a Lexi, and he was pretty sexy.

I prefer Alexander. I think it's more flexible; less prone to spelling errors and just a good classic name.

We know a lovely Reuben but it gets shortened to Reubs which of course sounds like boobs.

I like both, with a slight preference for Reuben.

Alexander has more nickname options though.

Really like both (not helpful)

Both is nice but Reuben is very newly popular

I love both, but theyre my nephews names so im biased!

Theyre really not overly popular here - one of each i think in my sons school of 320?

I love Reuben. My first son had to be a traditional family name so Reuben was lined up for 2nd son who never happened. My youngest daughter has promised me she will have a Reuben! But love Alexander too...my DH's name in fact.

I like both! Think I prefer Reuben slightly. I only know one of each among babies and young children.

Dislike Reuben

Alexander gets my vote, it's my DS middle name and it only became his middle name because DH and I couldn't agree on nn.

We have an Alexander. You can do much more with it in terms of choices for nicknames. Ours is AJ but he has two other friends who are also Alexander and one is known as Xander whilst the other is Alex. Reuben is kinda Reuben or Roo I suppose. Both lovely names though X
