So our dd is due in June, we've not spent too much time thinking but here's our list. Would love your thoughts and suggestions!

I quite like names that are a bit unusual without being toooo wacky. I would rather veer towards classic than trendy if it comes down to it. Surname begins with M and I like the alliteration of m for first and surname.

Anyway, I hope I haven't got terrible tastes, everyone seems to be a bit weirded out by my ideas so far. Sad

Marin - Love this, but know it's a bit Hmm
Cora
Cecily – really like but best friends daughter is calledthis , quite like Cecilia / Celie too
Lara
Mara
Wren, again love it but people think I'm weird
Marguerite
Coralie
Elka
Elodie - too popular?

Like Elka

Celestia?

Creatureofthenight · 30/04/2016 16:32

Of those, I like Cecily and Cora best, but prob a bit weird to use same name as your best friends DD.
Not keen on Wren. The rest are fine just not my taste.

leeds84 · 30/04/2016 16:32

Funnily enough celeste was on there but I took it off, I do like it though and celestia is really nice too.

Maren (prefer this to Marin)
Cecily
Lara
Mara
Marguerite

Only1scoop · 30/04/2016 16:33

Cosima?

I love it

Alyx80 · 30/04/2016 16:33

I love Wren, how about Merryn?

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 30/04/2016 16:34

I quite like Marin - never heard of it - but think people might think Marion?

Cecily nn Cece is very cool. You would have to ask your friend if she minds, I think.

Love Lara.

Cora is ok.

Don't like the others.

Suggestions:- Dora, Marnie, Flora, Cara, Sashsa, Saskia, Laura.

leeds84 · 30/04/2016 16:36

I like all except Elka. Wren is a nice name but I would avoid as it could end up being a bit ridiculous if your daughter is anything but petite and dainty when she gets older.

NoCapes · 30/04/2016 16:49

Love Cora & Elodie (were both on my lists too)

emsyj · 30/04/2016 16:51

Love Cora and Coralie was on my list last time. Celestine is beautiful, sadly very similar sounds to my surname or else I would have used it. Rosalie? Serafina? Marisol?

emsyj · 30/04/2016 16:53

Or Elkie like Elkie Brooks!? Elka is lovely. Might put that on my list actually!! Grin

TheTittifersHaveSungTheirSong · 30/04/2016 16:53

Going with the M's for alliteration:
Melodie rather than elodie?
Maya
Mia
Marina
Martha
Meredith
??

leeds84 · 30/04/2016 16:56

These are so good. I'm actually really like a lot of these suggestions, my long list is getting even longer.

Also great getting feedback on the names we'd already thought of and pleased to see my taste hasn't gone completely haywire. Thank you!

Cora, Coralie and Elodie are beautiful.

ShmooBooMoo · 30/04/2016 17:09

I love Camille (which can also be pronounced the French way: Cammy)

Sylvie (also French)

Eponine (think that's French too). Pronounced Eh-Pon-Een

Miriam (going on the MM theme)

Meredith (also MM) or Mena (like Mena Suvari)

Elise

Anya

Noemie (like a French Naomi...pronounced No-Ay-Me

Genevieve (Jenna-Veev) LOVE this one! Sounds so pretty and vintage to my ear, and seems to be pretty rare. Room for Evie as a nickname too. If you want MM though, you could have something like Genevieve Michelle M.... or Genevieve Marie M.... etc

I love all these names and think they are a bit different Smile Also love Cecily but you say that's out. You could actually go for Sicily or is that too close?

ShmooBooMoo · 30/04/2016 17:14

There's also Cicely (Cissy as a nn?)

Marmy2008 · 30/04/2016 17:19

I love Elodie

Marmy2008 · 30/04/2016 17:21

Also like Mara very unusual without being weird x

ShmooBooMoo · 30/04/2016 17:34

Mirabella (or Mirabelle) I think it's Italian for wonderful.
