So our dd is due in June, we've not spent too much time thinking but here's our list. Would love your thoughts and suggestions!

I quite like names that are a bit unusual without being toooo wacky. I would rather veer towards classic than trendy if it comes down to it. Surname begins with M and I like the alliteration of m for first and surname.

Anyway, I hope I haven't got terrible tastes, everyone seems to be a bit weirded out by my ideas so far. Sad

Marin - Love this, but know it's a bit Hmm
Cora
Cecily – really like but best friends daughter is calledthis , quite like Cecilia / Celie too
Lara
Mara
Wren, again love it but people think I'm weird
Marguerite
Coralie
Elka
Elodie - too popular?

I really like:

Elka
Marguerite
Wren
Cora

I personally really don't like Cecily. And it means blind... But I do love Celia (which means heaven).

I do love Elka so

Only over met one

Very classy lady

Great list!

Marin - Never heard of it and I would automatically think 'boy'
Cora - Prefer Coral
Cecily – not keen
Mara - I quite like it
Wren - LOVE!
Marguerite - you could pull it off if you had connections with the country of origin
Coralie - LOVE! We almost called dd2 this and recently met a grown-up one in her 50s.
Elka - reminds me too much of Elks
Elodie - meh

I like Wren, Coralie, Cecilia and Elspeth.

Cassia
Marina
Elowen
Jasmine
Louisa
Angelica
Stella
Aurora

Not hugely keen on any of them except for Lara, which I love. Haven't met any babies called Lara either. I particularly dislike Elka, it sounds like the word elk and feels very clumsy and clunky to me.

PetersonPeterson · 01/05/2016 14:20

Minna?

PetersonPeterson · 01/05/2016 14:21

Also like Cora from your list, and I think I like Wren. But can't decide if this will become a bit try hard? It's very sweet though. And like Marin.

Tattyjet · 01/05/2016 15:01

How about Carmen? It means song in Latin.

Tattyjet · 01/05/2016 15:05

From your list I LOVE Coralie - would be high on my list if I could convince DH, Cora and Elodie lovely too. Coral and Iris??

On the 'M' front, have you considered:

Marisa (the girl I knew pronounced it ma-ree-sa but Marissa with a short 'i' also common)

Miranda (dh says it's an old lady name but I think of it as a bit magical because of Prospero's beautiful daughter in The Tempest, or that it's Latin for 'she is to be admired'.) Mirrie for short?

hownottofuckup · 01/05/2016 16:03

I like Marin but my favourite name at the moment is Miriam.

Really don't like Elka, elks are beasts!

cecilelliott · 03/05/2016 22:13

I love Lara! The most gorgeous name and hardly ever used-don't know why!

My second favourite is Cora

joyfulworld · 04/05/2016 07:52

I like Mara and Wren from your list. :)

TheLuckDragon · 04/05/2016 11:42

As Wren is top of my girls list I'm going to go with that one Smile
