Hi, dh is very keen on Brock (with traditional middle name). Has anyone called their ds Brock and are you still in love with the name? I do like it and imaging a lovely, gentle, fun little boy but worry if it's a little too unusual?
Thanks Grin

Kafee it's Heathcliff :-D

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 17/04/2016 15:42

Oh yes, BB too.

For that alone it's a no from me.

BennyTheBall · 17/04/2016 15:51

I like it a lot.

I know of a Breck (American), but have not come across a Brock, apart from the child in Breaking Bad that was poisoned!

DiggersRest · 17/04/2016 15:55

My dn is Brock. It's pretty popular in Australia. He's 18 and it really suits him. Did as a baby too. So much frothing going on with this thread Grin

i know a bloke called brock.
Its quite hippyish. I really really like it

Herewegoagainfolks · 17/04/2016 16:07

Digger I don't see much frothing to be honest. Just a mix of mostly polite responses for and against.

LackOfAdhesiveDucks · 17/04/2016 16:11

My dad has Brock as a middle name and my cousin is Brock (it's my Grandmother's maiden name). If I ever have a son he will likely have it as a middle name. I love it.

Peasandsweetcorn · 17/04/2016 16:12

I was at university with a Brock. He must be mid 30s now. He was a slightly unusual character (although very nice) and clearly found it slightly annoying that everyone questioned his name - either by saying "although in badger" or "what's that short for" or "pardon" or something along similar lines.
Whilst more unusual names are now more normal than they were in my immediate age group and I know a Fox (actually, two Foxes, one age 4 & another newborn) and I'd still do a double take and raise my eyebrows, I think that that is still more regular than Brock and leads to less questioning.

niceupthedance · 17/04/2016 16:22

Brock is the noise a chicken makes.

DropYourSword · 17/04/2016 16:27

Brock is the noise a chicken makes.

No way. Chickens borrrk, not Brock!

Kafeeundkuchen · 17/04/2016 16:39

Luckily not seen BB. I don't know any Foxes... Now there's one for a second child!......
I'm getting the feeling Brock is a bit marmitey- people are either loving or hating, but everyone is entitled to their opinion and I'm thankful that on the whole everyone has been polite.

The more I'm thinking about it the more I'm liking it- my dh will be pleased. Watch the scan come back as a girl, then there'll be a whole new conversation! Grin

It's on our list. Everyone without fail I know hates it tho, and they are generally used to (and don't bat an eyelid) do my unusual children's names

Fraggled · 17/04/2016 16:46

I like it and I know of a baby Brock. It's a good name IMO.

Smartiepants79 · 17/04/2016 16:46

I only associate the name Brock with a idiotic character in a film called 'she's all that'. It's awful. I find it hard and ugly. Sorry!

mrssmith79 · 17/04/2016 17:10

Brock O'Hurn springs to mind. Google him - you won't be disappointed Grin

Kafeeundkuchen · 17/04/2016 19:43

Mrssmith- nope not disappointed! Lol!

I think of Pokemon too, we must all be children of the late 90s/early 00s!

I don't hate it but I don't picture a gentle child, it's more of a tough, cool name.
