Quinn for a girl?

I have two girls already, one with a floral name, one with a traditional female Irish name.

Male names for girls aren't normally my thing- but I really like Quinn. I fear my Irish father would be appalled...

DiggersRest · 15/04/2016 17:30

I like it but l was watching Scandal and liked that character Smile

MissBattleaxe · 15/04/2016 17:30

Agree with Turbinaria. Too much like Quim.

ReturnoftheWhack · 15/04/2016 17:38

LOVE it!!! Would have loved it for my daughter but DH vetoed it. TBH, kids nowadays won't know the reference with Quim. I think it's a fab, strong name.

mrsschu · 15/04/2016 17:42

I'm sorry but it's awful. It's an Irish surname not an Irish first name. If you want to go for something Irish there are literally hundreds of more usual and more obscure names which are actually first names to choose from. Please don't call your DC Quinn. I'm sorry but if I were your father I'd be appalled too.

hownottofuckup · 15/04/2016 17:43

I like it.

LauraChant · 15/04/2016 17:44

I like it. Reminds me of Daria's sister.

SmokyJoJo · 15/04/2016 17:46

I know a Quinn. She is 4. Gorgeous girl, gorgeous name.

mudandmayhem01 · 15/04/2016 17:47

Dr.Quinn medicine woman ( showing my age)

ReturnoftheWhack · 15/04/2016 17:49

Appalled? Really? You'd be APPALLED?! If I don't like other people's name choices I think "Meh"...and I'm Irish.

DingleberryFinn · 15/04/2016 17:51

Loki calls Black Window a "mewling quim" - in Avengers Assemble (2012). It's pretty famous. Josh Whedon talks about the choice to use the word in the director's commentary, there was a hoo-hah at the time about it...

3.03 in...

sonlypuppyfat · 15/04/2016 17:55

It's awful

goshhhhhh · 15/04/2016 17:55

Quim ....

ShowOfHands · 15/04/2016 17:56

I think...

Mewling quim
Dr Quinn
Surname

In that order.

exLtEveDallas · 15/04/2016 17:59

Makes me think of Harley Quinn in the Suicide Squad. I like it.

Quinn for a girl?
AlleyCatandRastaMouse · 15/04/2016 18:03

Mmmmmm Quinn from Homeland [drool]. Also Irish, not sure why that was relevant above, but I like it.

SwedishEdith · 15/04/2016 18:05

Quim as well - no way.

WellTidy · 15/04/2016 18:07

Makes me think of Homeland. RIP Quinn.

FurryDogMother · 15/04/2016 18:19

Wasn't it Quinn the Eskimo? Nonetheless, I like it. A lot.

mrsschu · 15/04/2016 18:23

Yes ReturnoftheWhack I'd be appalled Grin. It's fine as a (pretty unexciting) surname but awful as a first name, whether you're Irish or not. You think "meh", I think "appalling"!

Linus33 · 15/04/2016 18:23

I know it splits opinion but I like it for a girl or boy. Slightly biased though as I have one - DS2 age 11 Grin

Floggingmolly · 15/04/2016 18:29

I hate surnames as Christian names; but if you were to use it at all it shouldn't be for a girl. Awful.

SellMySoulForSomeSleep · 15/04/2016 18:31

Quinn from Glee. That's how I know it. I quite like it.

Mishaps · 15/04/2016 18:32

Definite thumbs down. It is ghastly.
