Quinn for a girl?

I have two girls already, one with a floral name, one with a traditional female Irish name.

Male names for girls aren't normally my thing- but I really like Quinn. I fear my Irish father would be appalled...

Yep to Quinn

ExplodingCarrots · 15/04/2016 18:35

I have a baby cousin called Quinn. First time I've come across the name for a girl. I quite like it.

ReturnoftheWhack · 15/04/2016 18:47

Right. Ok. Hmm

expatinscotland · 15/04/2016 18:48

ERm, no, too much like quim.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 15/04/2016 18:48

Really like it. Let's say Lily, Aoife & Quinn... Nice!

pollylovespie · 15/04/2016 18:49

Sorry, quim was what I though too. Finn is nice and quirky for a girl?

Scarydinosaurs · 15/04/2016 18:50

Oh blimey- that is very divided!

Does this make a difference- I have a VERY Irish surname. Until this second, I hadn't considered them together...I can't decide if it makes it better or worse...possibly better??

Thanks for all the reactions. I know you can't please everyone, but I certainly don't want to give my (currently imaginary) third daughter a terrible name.

I'm going to have to google quim, I have no idea what it is. Am I going to be horrified?

Quinn Murphy. Maybe not, even though I love Quinn.

Scarydinosaurs · 15/04/2016 18:53

Lolly86 · 15/04/2016 19:01

Scarydinosaurs · 15/04/2016 19:02

To be fair though, flogging you didn't like it in the first place Grin

magratsflyawayhair · 15/04/2016 19:02

Makes me think of How I Met Your Mother. I quite like it.

Scarydinosaurs · 15/04/2016 19:02

Male or female, Lolly? That is valuable info!

it sounds fine, but i always wonder why so many boys names get turned into girls names, but we rarely hear of boys called Mary

Floggingmolly · 15/04/2016 19:03

That's true, Scary Grin

juneau · 15/04/2016 19:06

I have a male Quinn. Its a fab name.

There is a pengy-Quinn in Baby Jake. There's also a penguin called Quinn in 'Third and Bird'. And then there's Quinn in Homeland (swoon!). They're all boys, of course. Are you sure you've having a girl?

Floggingmolly · 15/04/2016 19:07

It used to be quite common for boys to have Mary as their second name (in Ireland), Bran

NeedACleverNN · 15/04/2016 19:10

I quite like it

Glee and HIMYM both have a blonde female Quinn

Scarydinosaurs · 15/04/2016 19:17

juneau currently it is just the idea of a baby! If we are successful and we had a boy, I have a name ready and waiting to go!

JSarah · 15/04/2016 19:22

I like it! I prefer Quinley, though...

Joinourclub · 15/04/2016 19:33

I just think of it as quite American. I think there was a Quinn on One Tree Hill! It belongs with Ryder, Piper, Madison and I'm not sure it would go with your floral / traditional girls names.

Footle · 15/04/2016 19:35

Quinsey ?

DerelictMyBalls · 15/04/2016 19:56

Too quimmy.
