We really like Matthew for a boys name and were thinking of George as a middle name .Is it a good ,nice ,clever boys name I know some on MN think of certain names as naughty boy names from experience as teachers etc.

As long as you like it, personally I love it but the one of my children may or may not be called it Hmm

Trollicking · 19/03/2016 11:52

Matthew is a lovely name and George is a great middle name.

I approve Grin

Lottie2611 · 19/03/2016 11:55

Great name

CaptainCallisto · 19/03/2016 11:57

Good name. So good we chose it for DS2.

SirChenjin · 19/03/2016 11:58

Lovely name - and it goes really well with George. Maybe it's where you live, but it's definitely not a 'naughty boy' name up here.

Somanyillustrations · 19/03/2016 11:59

Lovely name. We would have used it for DS if it went with our surname.

mrsschu · 19/03/2016 11:59

Matthew is a great name and timeless also.

CiderwithBuda · 19/03/2016 12:13

Great name. Be warned though that he will very likely become Matt. Mine is Matthew at home and Matt with all his friends.

Arpege · 19/03/2016 12:18

Definitely a good boy name...

SatsukiKusakabe · 19/03/2016 12:19

It is a good strong name that actually would probably sound very fresh on a little boy at the moment as I doubt it is as popular now as it was 30 years ago.

Gizlotsmum · 19/03/2016 12:20

I have a Matthew.. Not sure he fits in the 'clever good boy' category but he is ridiculously loveable and has a cheeky grin ;)

Thereissomuchworktobedone · 19/03/2016 12:35

Thank you all,I think it's a good strong name.I don't know any little Matthews .It doesn't seem to be used as much today.

It's a great name. I like 'Matt' too, which is what he'll inevitably get called by his friends.

Thereissomuchworktobedone · 19/03/2016 13:49

I agree he probably will be Matt to his friends when he is older.Matthew sounds lovely for a little boy and I think it sounds like nice ,kind ,smart boy.

I agree, Matthew is lovely.

2016namechangecomingalong · 19/03/2016 13:52

Agree it's a nice solid name and Matt is also a nice shortening which will inevitably get used as he gets older whether you like it or not.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 19/03/2016 13:56

Nice solid name, timeless as a pp said. We have a few Matthews at the school where I work and they are all lovely, well-behaved boys.

Somanyillustrations · 19/03/2016 13:58

Reading this thread is actually making me a bit sad that we didn't get to use it! There is a 5 year old Matthew in DD's class, he is lovely, and the name really suits him.

twilightcafe · 19/03/2016 14:07

I have a Matthew - and he is a lovely boy! Smile

Thereissomuchworktobedone · 19/03/2016 14:09

I must say I don't ever picture a mean bully being called Matthew.

I agree Matthew does sound a nice, kind, smart and respectful. Oh bless..little baby Matthew is lovely. Plus when he is older it sounds like a nice kind mans name.
