Is there such thing as a 'middle class' boys name??

I've seen that referred to in other threads...are we talking royal names and basically that's it? Most of the names today were not popular when I was at school save for say Daniel Thomas James and Samuel. It seems every other name is considered by some as 'likely to date' etc.

Not a fan of that type of stereotyping.

I would put names like Hugo, Frederick, Elijah as middle class names.
Tbqh the middle classes are really the ones most likely to worry about this, aren't they?

Lysander. You just have to be well spoken and high educated to carry it off. I only know one parent with a ds called Lysander and she carries it brilliantly.

Kings, mostly. Traditional

I thought it was more Alexander, Sebastian, Edward, Henry etc

I'm not keen on stereotyping either but there is something in it surely? There are middle of the road names (apologies) such as James, Alex and Edward. There are names that raise an eyebrow such as Rocky, Azrael and Django. Middle class names to me are Sebastian, Theo, Rupert and Giles. Definitely not keen on Dante.....

I'd say names like Archie, Lucas, Oscar, George or Alexander are pretty middle class now. When I was a child (70s) it was more names like Daniel, Simon, or Luke type names.

Lysander and Benedict much more poncey upper m-c to me.

I think names which were once u-c are now much more commonly used in m-classes.

Definitely there are middle class names.

I think the best kind of people are the lower/working class and the very upper class.

Lower/working = salt of the earth, would give you their last penny.
Upper Class = old cashmere dog haired jumpers with holes in sleeve. Plus would never judge you.
Middle Class: The worst kind of snobs. Think their shit dont stink. Think they are upper class but never will be.

I think Royal, Biblical (Matthew, James etc) and traditional,names are middle class.

Names such as Lysander are upper class.

Some names dip in and out of middle class. Eg Noah, which i thought most of my life would only be used by overtly Biblical and only religious people. This all changed.

Names like Sharon, Tracey etc are not middle class (apologies to all Shazzers etc out there)

Most middle class boys have classic (though currently popular) names, such as Alexander, William, James, Henry, Thomas, Christopher etc.

More distinctively middle class names include Benedict, Rupert, Guy, Jeremy, Horatio and Barnaby.

Oliver, Reuben, Noah, Charles, Freddie and Hugo are currently pretty ubiquitous IME (though all nice names)
