I've seen that referred to in other threads...are we talking royal names and basically that's it? Most of the names today were not popular when I was at school save for say Daniel Thomas James and Samuel. It seems every other name is considered by some as 'likely to date' etc.

Some of the biblical names would be used by MC christians in my experience

Nothing wrong with Atticus precisely but there is a horrible snob living in my head that always wants to do a head tilt and ask 'So what did you read for GCSE?'

Rupert

I always think that the newspaper birth announcements is a fairly good indicator of social class for names:

Daily Telegraph (old money, so toffs and upper MC):

Caspar Piers Arthur
Maximilian Henry Charles
Georgia Octavia Theodora
Montague Robert Wyndham
Rupert Andrew Fleetwood
Ophelia Genevieve
Primrose Penelope Lavinia
Toby Phillip William
Florian (Laurie) Timothy Nicholas
Rufus James Thomas

Suspect that Hugo, Sophia, Isabella, Charlotte, Eleanor, Milo etc have slipped to being plain old MC.

I know a middle class Jayden, too. Mother a lecturer, father a social care consultant. I was so surprised when they chose the name (although I smiled and said 'that's lovely', of course).
