What did you name your DC?

Very much light hearted of course.. No offence intended towards non lefties or their dc's names, I'm just

A) nosey
and
B) looking for inspiration for names that my (very lefty) dp might not veto.

Thanks and please don't flame me!

Not saying my DDs name.

But would suggest anything to do with red.
Ruby
Scarlett
Carmine

Or a surname of a lefty hero.

Sheepasaurus · 08/03/2016 23:26

Corbyn has quite a ring to it?

choccyp1g · 08/03/2016 23:26

Leon
Rosa

choccyp1g · 08/03/2016 23:27

Karl
Eleanor

MrsLeighHalfpenny · 08/03/2016 23:28

Prescott for a boy.

PalacePalacePalace · 08/03/2016 23:28

What about
Keir
Clement
Billy (Bragg)
Definitely don't go for Ken or jeremy!

GiddyOnZackHunt · 08/03/2016 23:28

Jenny after Jenny Lee, Nye Bevan's love.

That's not a name I used but it has solid lefty weight.

choccyp1g · 08/03/2016 23:29

Kier
Aneurin

CommunistLegoBloc · 08/03/2016 23:30

I wanted to call my dog Corbyn Blush

gallicgirl · 08/03/2016 23:30

I worked with an Ivan whose brother was named Leon.

Who are your DH's heros?

choccyp1g · 08/03/2016 23:32

I think I misspelt Keir. I was trying so hard with Aneurin.
How about Bevan?

BestIsWest · 08/03/2016 23:37

Aneurin, for a girl Aneira (first baby born under NHS)
Rosa
Jenny
Barbara
Eleanor

nancy75 · 08/03/2016 23:39

Oh go on, suggest Maggie just to see his reaction Grin

runawaysimba · 08/03/2016 23:42

We have Maggie, but we're not British Smile

7to25 · 08/03/2016 23:46

Mary for Mary Barbour

EllenTheEgret · 09/03/2016 07:06

Thanks all!

I like:
Keir
Leon (after uber lefty Leon from Gogglebox Wink)

Rosa
Jenny
Eleanor

Weirdly really like Maggie - I'm just about young enough to think Simpson not Thatcher Grin

I was actually wondering what real lefties had called their children but this is good too Smile

Leni for a girl. They just missed the n off.

Aneurin ( known as Nye) AND his surname was Bevan.

Sylvia (Pankhurst)

WhiteHairReally · 09/03/2016 08:29

Once upon a time, Atticus was favoured by certainly the liberal if not the left leaning. Not certain of its status since 'Go call the Watchman' was published.

Thomas (Paine) Clare in the Community (R4) child was Thomas Paine Barker.

Malcolm (X)

AntiquityReRises · 09/03/2016 08:31

As a big fat lefty sliding into socialist I gave my child names I love. One very unusual, one very common. Did I not get the big red book of names or something?!?

jimpam · 09/03/2016 08:53

I liked alba for a girl & was due a few months before the independence referendum. Quite a few people told me they thought it was too political for a baby born in scotland at that time to be named abla Hmm Baby turned out to be a boy though so avoided that one altogether.

tinymeteor · 09/03/2016 09:35

I like Maggie of Winston for our dog but couldn't do it due to the political overtones...

Emmeline is a goodun.

SpecialStains · 09/03/2016 10:26

Dh will love this thread. Malcolm has been mentioned several times, but sadly (and for absolutely no good reason) I don't like the name.

motherinferior · 09/03/2016 10:29

I like Nye. And though I didn't call my girls Rosa I like that too.

OneMagnumisneverenough · 09/03/2016 11:11

I'm a Scottish leftie so mine have a different spin.

I do sort of have a Keir though it has a Gaelic twist. The other has a Scottish name as well but no particular references to Politics :)

OneMagnumisneverenough · 09/03/2016 11:17

Annie (Besant or Kenney)
William (Morris)
George (Bernard Shaw)
